A full day journey from Istanbul to Cappadocia day trip on a small group tour of Ortahisar, Rose Valley, Pigeon Valley and Kaymakli Underground City. It’s UNESCO World Heritage region famous for it’s subsurface cities, cave carved fairy chimneys and mushroom topped pinnacles. We will pick you up in the morning from your Istanbul hotel around at 5 A.M for your transfer to Istanbul Airport and start your adventure day to Cappadocia. After a short 50 min. duration flight at Kayseri International Airport or Nevsehir Airport, our guide will be waiting you with air-conditioned minivan for a 1 hour trip to the beautiful Rose Valley.

On a walking tour with our guide, Learn about the rose color rocks whose tones are changing during of the day which is the reason for Rose Valley’s etymology. Then, marvel at the valley’s weathered volcanic monoliths, fairy chimneys, craggy pinnacles, dense orchards and vineyards. Then continue to Rose Valley’s cave churches and hear how they were using by monks before the end of the first millennium.

Onward to a historical deserted rock village filled with ancient houses and churches, known as Old Çavuşin. Here, capture stunning shots of creepy houses and admire the imposing Basilica of St John the Baptist which rests on a clifftop overlooking Çavuşin.

Take a break for lunch at a traditional turkish restaurant and then head to the town of Ortahisar to gaze up at the commanding presence of Ortahisar Castle, a Byzantine-era fortification. Stand in awe as you view this 295-foot monolith chiseled into the image of a giant honeycomb. Climb up its narrow passage and pass carved rooms and etched out chambers. At the top, glimpse over the city for remarkable views. 

Then we will visit the Kaymakli Underground city which is one of the most famous of the Cappadocia underground cities out of 34 of them. Built by early Christians to protect themselves from the religious persecution of Roman Soldiers, Kaymaklı Underground City is an elaborate maze of tunnels, caves and is the second widest of the underground cities.

Finally, spend time looking at astounding cave homes at Pigeon Valley. Learn about locals who bred pigeons in their homes to collect poop for fertilizer! As the day comes to a close, journey back to Kayseri Airport or Nevsehir Airport to catch your flight to Istanbul. Then, enjoy a private transfer back to your hotel where your tour ends.
