Full Description

The Eiffel Tower by night from the Seine

The evening cruise departs from Port de la Bourdonnais, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. After dark the tower is lit in golden light, and for five minutes at the start of every hour it sparkles with thousands of flashing bulbs, a sight that is even more magical from the water. If you time your cruise for the hour, you may see it from the deck.

In summer the last boats leave around 10:00 PM, and in winter around 9:00 PM, so a Seine night cruise is possible all year. From October to March darkness falls early, which means even an early evening departure shows Paris illuminated. The nearest metro to the pier is Bir-Hakeim, and the RER C stop Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel is a few minutes' walk away.

Les Invalides, the National Assembly and the Grand Palais

Sailing upstream, the boat passes the floodlit golden dome of Les Invalides and the columned facade of the Palais Bourbon, seat of the National Assembly, the lower house of the French Parliament. On the opposite bank, the Grand Palais glows beneath its vast glass roof, and the Alexandre III Bridge shines with its gilded statues and ornate lamps.

Place de la Concorde, the largest square in Paris, opens up on the Right Bank with its Egyptian obelisk and fountains, and at night you can see the lights of the Champs-Élysées running toward the Arc de Triomphe. The audio guide tells the story of each landmark, from royal ceremonies to world fairs.

Musée d'Orsay, the Institut de France and the Louvre

The Musée d'Orsay, a former railway station, is one of the highlights of a night cruise: its two great clocks glow above the river. A little further, the domed Institut de France, seat of the French Academy, faces the Louvre across the Pont des Arts footbridge.

The Louvre's long facade, softly lit at night, stretches along the Right Bank for nearly a kilometre. Once the palace of French kings, it is now the most visited museum in the world. Seeing these buildings from the water after dark gives you a completely different impression from a daytime visit, calm, golden and reflected in the river. If you plan to visit the Louvre during your stay, book a timed entry in advance to avoid the long queues.

The Conciergerie, Ile de la Cité and Notre-Dame

On the Ile de la Cité, the boat passes the towers of the Conciergerie, a medieval royal palace that later became a prison during the French Revolution, and the Sainte-Chapelle hidden behind the Palace of Justice. Then comes Notre-Dame Cathedral, reopened in December 2024 after its restoration, its Gothic facade and new spire illuminated against the night sky.

The boat turns near the islands and heads back downstream, passing beneath the stone arches of the Pont Neuf. Is a Seine night cruise worth it? For many visitors it is the most romantic hour of their stay, and the best way to see so many Paris landmarks in a single evening.

Waffle at Trocadéro and the Palais de Chaillot

Before returning to the pier, the cruise passes the Palais de Chaillot, whose curved wings frame the Trocadéro esplanade on the Right Bank. This is where you collect your hot waffle or crêpe with sugar or chocolate at a kiosk facing the Eiffel Tower, a short walk across the Pont d'Iéna from the boat.

The waffle is collected on the date you book, before or after the cruise, and the kiosk is open until late evening. Standing on the esplanade with a warm waffle while the Eiffel Tower sparkles in front of you is one of the simplest pleasures of Paris, and one of the best photo spots in the city.
