Bursa

Bursa was the first capital of the Ottoman Empire, a city of covered markets, domed mosques and thermal springs set against the slopes of Mount Uludag, which rises directly above the old quarters. A cable car climbs from the city toward the mountain for cooler air in summer and snow in winter, while the streets below stay busy with silk traders and tea houses that give Bursa a calmer pace than nearby Istanbul.
