Full Description

Aquaventure Waterpark on Palm Jumeirah

Aquaventure sits at the very tip of Palm Jumeirah, inside the large resort that crowns the island's crescent. After a major expansion in 2023 it became one of the biggest waterparks in the world, with towers of slides, near-vertical drops, family rafting rides, a long river with rapids and wave pools, all built around turquoise lagoons and palm-shaded beaches. Its best-known ride, the Leap of Faith, sends you down a steep chute and through a clear tunnel in a shark lagoon.

How to get to Aquaventure: a taxi along the Palm trunk takes about 15 minutes from Dubai Marina, or you can ride the Palm Monorail from the Palm Gateway station, linked to the Dubai Tram, to its last stop at the crescent beside the park. Aquaventure opening hours change with the season and usually run from mid-morning to early evening, so a morning dolphin slot leaves you most of the day for the slides.

The dolphin lagoon: a deep-water swim and snorkel

The dolphin programme takes place in large seawater lagoons beside the waterpark, where a group of Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins lives, cared for by a team of trainers and vets. You start with 30 minutes to check in and change, then a 15-minute orientation in which a marine mammal specialist explains how dolphins breathe, hunt and use echolocation, and how to behave in the water with them.

Then comes the best part: 30 minutes in deep water, wearing a mask, snorkel and wetsuit or buoyancy vest. You float at the surface while the dolphins glide beneath you, and the trainers guide moments of close interaction. Is swimming with dolphins in Dubai worth it? For confident swimmers it is a rare chance to see these animals moving freely below you rather than from a poolside seat. Photos are taken by the team and sold after the swim.

A full day at the waterpark after your swim

Your ticket includes same-day entry to Aquaventure Waterpark, so plan to stay. Families usually split between the big slides and the calmer zones: the lazy river that loops round the park with stretches of rapids and wave surges, the children's splash areas with shallow pools and small slides, and the surf ride where you can try riding a standing wave. A private beach with loungers and shade faces the open sea along the crescent.

Food kiosks and cafés inside the park sell halal meals, snacks and drinks, and lockers and towels are already covered by your ticket. Lines for the most popular slides are shortest in the first hour after opening and late in the afternoon, so many guests ride first, swim with the dolphins at midday and return to the river and beach afterwards. Keep your wristband on all day, as it is your entry to every ride.

Palm Jumeirah around the park

Aquaventure faces the open sea from the crescent of Palm Jumeirah, the palm-shaped island built from reclaimed sand from 2001 onward. From the beach you see back along the island to the towers of Dubai Marina and JBR, and in the evening the lights of the Palm trunk come on behind you. The monorail ride along the trunk is worth doing for its own views over the fronds and lagoons.

If you have time before or after your visit, The View at the Palm observation deck on the trunk gives the classic overhead look at the whole island. The best time to visit Dubai for a waterpark day is October to April, when air and water are both warm but not hot; in summer, come early and take long breaks in the shade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to what travellers ask us most, before they book.

Is this a shared or a private experience?

It is a shared small-group programme, with no more than eight guests per dolphin. Other guests may be in the lagoon with your group.

How long does it take?

The dolphin programme takes about 1.5 hours including check-in, changing, orientation and 30 minutes in the water. The waterpark pass then covers the rest of the day.

Is hotel pickup included?

No, transport is not included. A taxi or the Palm Monorail brings you to the park at the crescent of Palm Jumeirah.

What is included?

Check-in and orientation with a marine mammal specialist, 30 minutes in the water with the dolphins, snorkelling, a wetsuit or vest, bottled water and soft drinks, towels and lockers, and same-day entry to Aquaventure Waterpark.

Is the price per person or per group?

The price is per person. The booking panel on this page shows the current price for your date.

Is it suitable for children or guests with reduced mobility?

Children from 8 years can join if they swim confidently, and those aged 8 to 12 must be with an adult. The swim is in deep water, so it is not suited to guests who cannot swim unaided.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, your ID, sunscreen for the waterpark, flip-flops and a change of clothes. Towels, lockers and the wetsuit are provided.

What is the best time of day for the dolphin swim?

A morning slot leaves you most of the day for the waterpark. The months from October to April are the most comfortable for a full day outdoors.

What happens in bad weather?

Rain is rare in Dubai. If lightning or a storm stops activities in the lagoon, we help you move to another time or date.

How do I book and confirm?

Pick your date and programme time in the booking panel. Our team confirms on WhatsApp within minutes and sends your voucher and meeting details.

Do I need snorkelling experience?

No. The team shows you how to use the mask and snorkel during the orientation, but you must be comfortable swimming in water where you cannot stand.

Can I bring my own camera into the lagoon?

Personal cameras are generally not allowed during the dolphin swim. The team photographs your session and the photos can be bought afterwards.
