Full Description

The Diamond Bridge, Georgia's glass bridge

The Diamond Bridge, also called the Dashbashi glass bridge, opened in 2022 above Dashbashi Canyon in the Tsalka municipality. It is about 240 metres long and stands around 280 metres above the canyon floor, with glass panels that let you look straight down onto the river, the forest and the waterfalls. At its centre is a diamond-shaped glass platform that serves as a viewpoint and a small café, giving visitors the strange feeling of having a coffee in mid-air.

On this Diamond Bridge day trip from Tbilisi you spend about an hour and a half at the bridge, with time to cross, take photos from the rim and try the optional sky bike, a cable bicycle over the canyon. The entrance fee and the sky bike are paid on site. Drones are not allowed, and the glass can be slippery after rain, so take care and keep an eye on children.

Hiking Dashbashi Canyon

Dashbashi Canyon is part of the Khrami river gorge, carved into volcanic rock and around 300 metres deep. Its vertical cliffs, rich plant life and waterfalls make it one of the most beautiful natural sights within easy reach of Tbilisi. The best known is the weeping wall, a broad cascade of spring water running down moss-covered rock into a clear stream.

With your guide you walk along well-marked trails for about an hour and a half, crossing wooden bridges, small streams and rocky sections. This Dashbashi Canyon hike is moderate, with some steps, so wear good walking shoes. Please note that after heavy rain or rockfalls the canyon trail can be closed for maintenance; the glass bridge stays open, and your guide adapts the day to what is accessible.

Algeti Lake in the Tetritskaro hills

Algeti Lake, often called the Algeti Reservoir, lies in the Tetritskaro municipality at around 1,100 metres above sea level, close to Algeti National Park. Although it was created as a water reservoir, it blends naturally into a landscape of forested hills and mountain slopes, and it is a favourite weekend escape for people from Tbilisi.

The group stops here for about 20 minutes to stretch, take photos and enjoy the quiet after the canyon. In summer the shores are popular for picnics and fishing, while in autumn the changing leaves turn the hills gold and orange around the calm water. It is a peaceful last stop before the drive back to the capital.

Kvemo Kartli: the road from Tbilisi

The route runs south-west from Tbilisi into Kvemo Kartli, a region of high plateaus, lakes and small farming villages that most visitors never see. The drive to the canyon takes about two hours, and the road climbs through changing scenery where your guide explains the region's history, nature and way of life.

Because the tour combines three very different places, a glass bridge, a deep canyon and a mountain lake, it gives a fuller picture of Georgian nature than a single stop. Most people ask about the best time to visit Dashbashi Canyon: late spring and early summer are the greenest, while autumn brings colour and cooler, more comfortable hiking weather.
