Overview
Spend three hours on a catamaran along the south coast of Tenerife, with pickup and drop-off at selected points in Costa Adeje and the surrounding areas included in the default option. After a safety briefing at Puerto Colón, the crew looks for whales, dolphins and seabirds, sharing facts about each species in English and Spanish. The catamaran then anchors at Diego Hernández Bay, a quiet cove without road access, where you can swim in clear water or relax on the sunbathing nets, before a Canarian-style rice lunch and drinks on board. The return offers views of the coast and Mount Teide. It is a shared group cruise with departures at 10:00 and 13:00, plus 16:00 in summer. Another option meets directly at the harbour without transfers.

Full Description
Puerto Colón and Pickup in Costa Adeje
With the default option, you are collected from a selected hotel or pickup point in Costa Adeje or the surrounding areas, chosen when you book, and taken to Puerto Colón in an air-conditioned vehicle. Pickups in Playa Paraíso run only on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. At the end of the cruise you are dropped back at the same point.
Puerto Colón is the main excursion marina of south Tenerife, between Torviscas beach and Playa de las Américas, with cafés and shops along the docks. The catamaran is moored at Pantalán 9, the pontoon where you board if you choose the option without transfers. The cruise begins with a safety briefing from the crew before heading out along the coast.
Whales, Dolphins and Seabirds off Costa Adeje
The deep waters off Costa Adeje are part of the Teno-Rasca marine protected area, where short-finned pilot whales live in family groups all year and bottlenose dolphins are regular residents. Depending on the season, you may also see common or spotted dolphins, turtles and seabirds such as Cory's shearwaters gliding low over the waves, and yellow-legged gulls following the boat.
Whale watching in Costa Adeje is popular because the animals are usually found close to the coast, soon after leaving the marina. The crew helps you identify each species and explains how they feed, rest and travel, and the licensed boat keeps a respectful distance and limits the time spent with each group. Sightings depend on the sea and cannot be guaranteed, but they are very common on this coast.
Diego Hernández Bay
Playa de Diego Hernández is one of the last unspoilt coves on the south coast of Tenerife, tucked between low volcanic cliffs a little north of the fishing village of La Caleta. There is no road to it: on land it can only be reached by a rough coastal footpath of about half an hour, so it stays quiet and natural, with a beach of light sand and pebbles and very clear turquoise water.
From the sea it is the easiest way to enjoy the bay. The catamaran anchors offshore, and you can jump in for a swim or stretch out on the sunbathing nets between the hulls. If you bring your own mask and snorkel, you can look for colourful fish around the rocks and, with luck, a turtle or two. Many visitors ask how to get to Diego Hernández Bay, and arriving by boat is by far the most relaxing answer.
Lunch on Board and the Coast with Mount Teide
While the catamaran is at anchor, lunch is served on board: a Canarian-style rice dish in the manner of paella, with vegetarian, vegan and children's menus available if you ask when booking, and drinks served throughout the cruise. Eating with the bay in front of you is one of the most enjoyable moments of the trip.
On the way back to Puerto Colón, the catamaran follows the Costa Adeje coastline past La Caleta and the beaches of El Duque and Fañabé. Behind the resorts the land rises in brown volcanic slopes towards the mountains, and on clear days the summit of Mount Teide, the highest peak in Spain at 3,715 metres, appears above the clouds. The cruise ends at the marina about three hours after departure.
