Full Description
The observation deck above Levent
The deck sits at the top of a blue-glass skyscraper of more than 230 metres that rises above the office towers of Levent, the financial district that grew up along Büyükdere Avenue on the European side. For years it has been the answer to the search for the highest observation deck in Istanbul, and the reason is simple: nothing else open to the public stands this far above the city. The lifts leave from the ground floor of the shopping mall at the tower's base and reach the viewing floors in under a minute, so the whole visit is easy, even with children or a pushchair.
Upstairs there are two levels of viewing: a glazed indoor floor where you can walk the full circle in comfort whatever the weather, and an open-air terrace where you feel the wind off the Bosphorus. Telescopes and binoculars are placed along the railings. Plan about an hour; most visitors stay longer at sunset.
What you see: the Bosphorus, the bridges and the old city
To the east the Bosphorus unrolls like a ribbon between Europe and Asia, with the 15 July Martyrs Bridge in the foreground and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge further north. On the Asian shore you pick out Üsküdar, Çamlıca Hill with its tower and the long line of Kadıköy. To the south the eye follows the strait down to the Maiden's Tower, Topkapi Point and the domes and minarets of Sultanahmet, then out over the Marmara Sea to the Princes' Islands on a clear day.
This is the view that explains the city: you understand why the Golden Horn made Constantinople a natural harbour, why the Ottomans built their palaces on the Bosphorus shore, and how the modern city has spread over the hills in every direction. Our Istanbul team recommends going on your first day; the rest of your sightseeing makes much more sense afterwards.
The 4D sky ride over Istanbul
The sky ride is the extra most visitors choose, and it is the one included in the default option of this ticket. You take a seat in a moving cabin that simulates a helicopter flight: the ride lifts off from the terrace of the tower, dives over the Bosphorus, circles the Maiden's Tower, passes Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace and returns over the city, with wind, movement and sound effects timed to the film. It lasts a few minutes and is popular with children and teenagers.
The ride is a good way to connect the real panorama outside with the landmarks you will visit at ground level; after the flight, step back onto the terrace and find the same places with the telescopes. If you prefer the view alone, the deck-only ticket on this page gives the same access to both platforms without the simulation.
Levent and how to get there
Levent is the modern face of Istanbul, a district of glass towers, headquarters and shopping centres around the M2 metro, a world away from the lanes of the old city. The tower stands directly on the 4. Levent metro station, so how to get to the observation deck is the easiest question in Istanbul: take the M2 line from Taksim or Şişhane (about ten minutes) or from Yenikapı if you stay in Sultanahmet, changing from the T1 tram or Marmaray, and come out inside the shopping mall.
The mall has cafés and halal restaurants on its food floors, and the big shopping avenues of Nişantaşı and the park of Emirgan on the Bosphorus are a short taxi ride away. Many of our guests combine the deck with a Bosphorus cruise from Kabataş or Beşiktaş on the same afternoon.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to what travellers ask us most, before they book.
Is this a shared or a private experience?
It is an individual entrance ticket: you visit the observation deck at your own pace, without a guide, and the 4D ride runs for small groups of visitors in a shared cabin.
How long does it take?
Allow about an hour for the two viewing platforms and the sky ride; many guests stay longer around sunset to see the city lights come on.
Is hotel pickup included?
No. The tower is directly on the 4. Levent station of the M2 metro, about ten minutes from Taksim, so most guests arrive by metro or taxi.
What is included?
The default option includes entry to the indoor and outdoor viewing platforms, use of the telescopes and the 4D sky ride; the deck-only option includes the platforms without the ride.
Is the price per person or per group?
Per person. The booking panel on this page shows the current price of each option; children up to 2 years enter free.
Is it suitable for children and for reduced mobility?
The deck is reached by lift and suits wheelchairs and pushchairs; children love the view and the ride, although the moving simulator is not advised for very small children.
What should I bring?
Your phone with the mobile ticket, a jacket for the open terrace and a camera; tripods are not practical on the terrace.
What is the best time of day to go up?
Late afternoon: you see the city in daylight, then the sunset over the Golden Horn and the lights of the two bridges. Clear mornings after rain give the sharpest long views to the Princes' Islands.
Is the observation deck worth visiting?
Yes, especially on your first day: it is the highest public viewpoint in Istanbul and the only place where the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn, the old city and the Marmara Sea are visible in a single sweep.
Where exactly is the observation deck in Istanbul?
At the top of the glass tower in 4. Levent on the European side, with the entrance inside the shopping mall at its base, on the M2 metro line.
What happens in bad weather?
The indoor viewing floor is open whatever the weather; the terrace may be closed in strong wind. In thick fog we suggest moving your visit to another day; contact us on WhatsApp.
How do I book and confirm?
Choose the option and date on this page and send the booking; our Istanbul team confirms on WhatsApp within minutes and sends the mobile ticket.
