Full Description

Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina Walk

The tour opens with the modern face of the city. After pickup, our driver heads onto Palm Jumeirah, the palm-shaped island built on reclaimed sand in the 2000s, and drives along its trunk towards the crescent, past apartment towers, the villas of the fronds and the grand resorts at the tip. Your guide explains how the island was shaped by dredging ships and why its outer crescent protects it from the sea.

Next comes Dubai Marina, where you leave the vehicle for a stroll on Dubai Marina Walk. This promenade follows a man-made canal of about 3 kilometres lined with residential towers, cafes and moored yachts. It is one of the liveliest corners of the city, with the twisting tower and the tall residential skyline reflected in the water, and the 15-minute walk is perfect for your first photos of the day.

Burj Al Arab and the Museum of the Future

On Jumeirah Beach the tour stops for the classic photo of Burj Al Arab, the sail-shaped tower that stands on its own artificial island off the coast. Opened in 1999 and rising 321 metres, it was designed to look like the sail of a traditional dhow. The public beach beside it offers the best angle, with the tower framed by turquoise water and white sand.

The tour then moves to the business district for a stop at the Museum of the Future, opened in 2022 and already one of the most photographed buildings in the city. Its silver, ring-shaped form is covered in Arabic calligraphy that also serves as windows, and the empty centre represents the unknown future. You have time to photograph the facade and explore the ground floor before driving on.

The Blue Mosque in Jumeirah

The Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque, known to visitors as the Blue Mosque, stands in the Al Safa area of Jumeirah. Its design draws on the great Ottoman mosques of Istanbul, with a large central dome, slender minarets and an interior decorated with blue tiles, chandeliers and calligraphy, mixed with Andalusian and Moroccan details. It is a working mosque that welcomes visitors outside prayer times.

Your guide leads a 30-minute visit, explaining the architecture, the meaning of the prayer hall and everyday Islamic customs. Dress modestly: long sleeves and long trousers or skirts, with a headscarf for women, and shoes are removed at the entrance. If the mosque is closed for a religious occasion, the tour makes a photo stop outside instead.

Gold Souk, Spice Souk and the abra across Dubai Creek

In Deira the guide takes you through two of the most famous markets in the region. The Gold Souk is a covered maze of jewellery shops with windows full of necklaces, bangles and bridal sets, sold by weight at the daily gold price. Around the corner, the Spice Souk is all colour and scent: saffron, cardamom, dried black lemons, rose buds and frankincense, piled high in open sacks. You spend about 30 minutes in each.

From the Deira side you then board an abra, the traditional wooden water taxi that has crossed Dubai Creek for generations. The short ride passes dhows loading cargo at the old wharves and gives you a low-level view of both banks. For many travellers this abra ride on Dubai Creek is the moment the old city truly comes to life.

Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and the heritage house

Stepping off in Bur Dubai, you walk into the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, often called Al Bastakiya. Built from the late 19th century by merchants from the town of Bastak, it is a maze of narrow lanes between coral-stone and gypsum houses, topped by square wind towers that once cooled the rooms below. Your guide leads a 20-minute walk, explaining how families lived and traded along the creek.

The visit continues at a restored heritage house with traditional interiors, where you sit down for Arabic tea, coffee and water. The rooms, carpets and decorations reflect Emirati life before oil, and this is the moment to ask your guide about local customs, food and family traditions. Allow about 30 minutes here before the drive to the last stop of the day.

Dubai Frame: tickets, views and the best time to visit

The Dubai Frame rises 150 metres in Zabeel Park, a giant gold-coloured picture frame opened in 2018 that sits right between the old and the new city. Your Dubai Frame tickets are included with this option. Inside, a gallery on the ground floor recreates Dubai as a small trading town, then a lift takes you to the sky bridge across the top, where glass floor panels let you look straight down.

From the bridge you see the old districts of Deira and Bur Dubai to the north and the towers of Sheikh Zayed Road and the Burj Khalifa to the south, the perfect summary of the day. Plan about an hour, including the exit gallery with its vision of the city's future. The Frame is not guided inside, so you explore at your own pace before our driver takes you back to your hotel.
