Full Description

Pier 7 and the Dubai Marina canal by night

The cruise starts at Pier 7, the round seven-storey building on the Marina promenade next to Dubai Marina Mall, with a different restaurant on each level. After check-in you board straight from the quay and the yacht eases out along the Dubai Marina canal, the waterway carved into the coast in the early 2000s and lined on both banks by residential towers.

At night the canal becomes a corridor of light: tower facades glow in changing colours, the promenade is busy with evening walkers and smaller boats pass close by. This first stretch is calm and slow, ideal for settling at your sky-deck table with a welcome drink and the first canapés. It is the reason a Dubai Marina dinner cruise is one of the most requested evenings for visitors to the city.

JBR waterfront and Ain Dubai at night

Out of the Marina mouth the yacht runs along Jumeirah Beach Residence, the row of towers behind the city's busiest public beach and The Walk promenade. From the water the whole frontage is visible at once, its restaurants and lit terraces reflected in the sea, with the dark line of the beach in front.

Ahead rises Ain Dubai on Bluewaters Island, an observation wheel about 250 m tall whose rim is lit after dark, a striking sight from the upper deck. The yacht passes slowly between the wheel and the coast, so this is the moment to leave your table for photos. Many guests say these views are why a cruise beats any rooftop for the Marina skyline.

Palm Jumeirah from the sea

The cruise continues to Palm Jumeirah, the palm-shaped island raised from reclaimed sand from 2001, whose trunk and fronds carry villas, apartments and resorts and whose outer crescent shelters the whole island from the open sea. From the yacht you see the crescent as a long, lit band on the horizon, with the arched resort at its tip glowing in the centre.

This leg is the calmest and quietest of the evening, usually timed while the buffet is in full flow, and on clear nights the lights of the Palm trunk and the Dubai skyline line up behind the yacht. If the sea is rough the captain keeps closer to the coast, and the route can change with weather conditions.

Dinner on board: buffet and sky-deck service

Dinner is an international buffet in the main saloon, with live cooking stations next to hot dishes from several cuisines, salads, mezze, bread and a dessert table. The meat served is halal, as is standard in the UAE, and vegetarian choices are plentiful. Soft drinks, juices and water are included throughout the three hours.

With the default VIP option you also have a reserved table on the separate top sky-deck, where canapés are served to your table and the open air gives the best views of the route. Standard guests have open seating in the main saloon and outer decks; that standard option is the second choice in the booking panel.

Live entertainment: Tanoura, aerial dancers and DJ

The programme mixes regional tradition with a modern show. Tanoura dancers spin in wide, layered skirts that light up as they turn, a whirling art with Sufi roots, while aerial performers dance on silks and hoops above the deck. Between acts a resident DJ plays music on board, at a level that still leaves room for conversation at your table.

The shows are spaced through the evening so you can eat, watch and step out for photos without missing much. Expect the cruise to return to Pier 7 around 10:30 PM. If you are looking for things to do in Dubai at night that combine dinner, views and a show in one booking, this cruise covers all three.
