Full Description

Seoraksan National Park

Seoraksan National Park in Gangwon Province is one of Korea's most beloved mountain areas, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of granite peaks, waterfalls, valleys and old temples. In the regular season the tour visits the Sogongwon area, where you can walk among the trees and dramatic rock scenery, and take the cable car to the ruined Gwongeumseong Fortress if you wish, though the cable car ticket is not included and it may not run in bad weather.

In the autumn foliage season the tour usually takes the Osaek course instead, which involves about one to one and a half hours of easy hiking beside streams and colourful maple forest, so bring proper shoes. Trip operations follow the foliage, so the exact trail can change. For many guests, a Seoraksan day trip from Seoul is the highlight.

Nami Island (Namiseom)

Nami Island is a small river island in Chuncheon, reached by a short ferry ride, and it became famous across Asia after appearing in Korean dramas. Its best-known scene is the lane of tall Metasequoia trees, but the whole island is an easy walk of forests, riverside paths, photo spots and small exhibitions.

There is free time to walk, take pictures and have a snack at the cafés. The ferry and entry are included in the default option, though the optional zipline is not. Nami Island is lovely in every season, with fresh green in spring, lush shade in summer, gold in autumn and snow in winter.

The Garden of Morning Calm

The Garden of Morning Calm in Gapyeong is a large, carefully designed garden of flowers, trees and paths, opened in the 1990s. Different areas peak in different seasons, so it is worth a visit all year round, and the tour allows time to enjoy it.

In winter, the garden is known for its light festival, when thousands of lights transform the paths after dark, and in summer for flower displays such as hydrangeas. The garden ticket is included in the default option, and there is free time to wander at your own pace.

A long day out from Seoul

This is an early start and a late finish, with about 14 hours in total and long drives between the sights. It is best for travellers who enjoy nature and do not mind a busy schedule. You meet at Hongik University Station in the default option, or choose another meeting point.

To avoid heavy traffic, the group does not return to the Hongik University Station area in the evening. If you would like to reach your accommodation by subway, you can leave the bus at Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station, one of the drop-off sites.
