Full Description

Jet Ski Base and Safety Briefing

The safari starts on the south coast of Koh Samui after a short van ride from your hotel. Before anyone goes on the water, the guides give a thorough briefing on how to start, steer and brake the jet ski, how to ride in a line and what to do at each stop. The jet skis used are wide and V-shaped for stability, and their brake system lets you slow down on the sea – a real help for beginners.

Each jet ski carries one or two people, and only the driver needs to be 18 or older with a valid ID or passport. A large waterproof compartment on board keeps your phone and towel dry, and the guides can take photos with your phone at every stop.

Laem Sor Pagoda

The first sight on the route is Laem Sor Pagoda, a slender chedi covered in golden-yellow tiles that stands right on the rocks at the water's edge in the south of Koh Samui. Seen from the sea, with green hills behind and turquoise water in front, it is one of the island's most beautiful landmarks and a favourite photo for anyone on a Koh Samui jet ski tour.

You ride past slowly so you can admire it from the water. On land the pagoda is part of a quiet temple ground; if you want to visit it in person later, dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered. The road along this southern coast is also one of the quietest parts of Koh Samui, far from the busy beaches of the north-east.

Koh Tan: Hidden Lagoon and Coral Reef

Koh Tan, also written Koh Taen, is a small, quiet island a short ride south of Koh Samui with only a few residents. Its hidden lagoon, framed by rocks and clear shallow water, is the setting for your first stop: time for photos, a short swim and a break from riding.

The second stop is Koh Tan's large coral reef, one of the best snorkelling spots near Koh Samui. With mask and snorkel provided by the guides, you float over coral gardens alive with tropical fish in protected waters. The Koh Tan entry fee is already included in this tour, so you simply park the jet ski and slip into the water.

Koh Madsum – Pig Island

The highlight of the safari is Koh Madsum, known to everyone as Pig Island. This small island has a long beach of fine white sand, palms and calm turquoise shallows, and a family of pigs that wander freely along the shore and doze in the shade. Watching them trot across the beach is the moment most travellers come for.

You have free time to swim, take photos and relax on the sand. Please give the pigs space and do not chase them. A small Pig Island entrance fee is paid in cash on arrival, and children under 8 enter at no charge. After the stop you ride back past the coast of Koh Samui to the base.
