Overview
This is a private car or van with a local English-speaking driver, booked for 4, 6 or 8 hours, so you can see Koh Samui on your own route instead of joining a group bus. Our driver collects you from your hotel, villa or pier and waits at every stop while you explore. The full 8-hour day suits the classic island loop: the Big Buddha Temple and Wat Plai Laem, the coastal viewpoint above Chaweng, the Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks near Lamai, the temple of the mummified monk and the Na Muang Waterfalls, with time for lunch, a beach or a market. It is ideal for families, couples, villa guests and cruise passengers. Note that the driver is not a licensed guide.

Full Description
Big Buddha Temple and Wat Plai Laem
The Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai) is the landmark most visitors want to see first on a Koh Samui island tour. The twelve-metre golden seated Buddha was built in 1972 on the small islet of Koh Faan, joined to the north-east coast by a causeway, and a stairway guarded by naga serpents leads up to the statue with views over the sea and the airport approach.
A few minutes away, Wat Plai Laem is one of the most photographed temples on the island: an eighteen-armed statue of the goddess of mercy stands beside a lake, surrounded by bright shrines and a cheerful laughing Buddha. Allow about an hour for the two temples together, cover shoulders and knees, and take off your shoes where signs ask. Mornings are cooler and calmer here.
Chaweng Beach and the coastal viewpoint
Chaweng is Koh Samui's longest and liveliest beach, a curve of pale sand and shallow turquoise water on the east coast lined with cafés, shops and resorts. With a private driver you can stop for a swim or a walk on the sand without worrying about parking or taxis, then continue whenever you like.
South of the town, the coast road climbs over the headland between Chaweng and Lamai, where the viewpoint looks down over boulders, small coves and the open sea. It is one of the best free photo stops on the island and takes only fifteen to twenty minutes. Late afternoon light is softer for pictures, while mid-morning gives the brightest turquoise colours in the water.
Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks near Lamai
At the southern end of Lamai Beach, the granite formations of Hin Ta and Hin Yai, often called the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks, are shaped by wind and waves and linked to a local legend about an elderly couple lost at sea. A short path leads down to the rocks, where waves crash into the coves on windy days.
The lane to the rocks is lined with small stalls selling kalamae, a sticky coconut sweet that is a Samui speciality, along with dried fruit and souvenirs. Plan thirty to forty-five minutes here and wear sandals with grip, as the rocks can be slippery. Your driver drops you at the entrance and waits nearby.
Wat Khunaram and the mummified monk
Inland from the south coast, Wat Khunaram is a working temple where the body of a revered local monk has been kept in a glass case since 1973, still seated in the meditation posture in which he passed away. Visitors come quietly to pay respect, and the temple grounds are peaceful and shaded.
It is a short stop of about twenty to thirty minutes, best combined with the Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks and the Na Muang Waterfalls, which lie on the same side of the island. Dress modestly, speak softly and avoid pointing your feet towards the shrine. This is the kind of stop that fits easily into a private route but is often skipped by larger group tours.
Na Muang Waterfalls
The Na Muang Waterfalls are the most visited falls on Koh Samui and the reason many travellers ask about a Na Muang waterfall tour. Na Muang 1, close to the road, drops about eighteen metres over purple-tinted rock into a pool where people cool off in the dry season. Na Muang 2 is higher in the jungle and reached on a steeper trail of around thirty minutes each way.
The best time to visit is after the rains, from about October to January, when the water is strongest, but the falls flow most of the year. Bring water shoes and a towel if you want to swim. With your own driver you can spend as long as you like, from a quick photo stop to a longer walk in the forest.
Fisherman's Village in Bophut
On the north coast, Fisherman's Village in Bophut keeps the old wooden Chinese shophouses of Samui's trading days, now filled with cafés, boutiques and seafood restaurants facing a quiet beach with views towards Koh Phangan. It is a relaxed place for lunch or a coffee during your day.
On Friday evenings the main street becomes a walking market with street food, crafts and music, so a 6- or 8-hour booking that starts in the afternoon can end here. Your driver can drop you at the entrance and collect you when you are ready, which avoids the search for parking in the narrow lanes. On other days an hour is enough for a stroll along the beachfront and a meal before continuing your island loop.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to what travellers ask us most, before they book.
Is this a shared or a private experience?
It is fully private. The car or van, the driver and the route are only for you and your group, and no other travellers join.
How long does it take?
You choose 4, 6 or 8 hours when booking. The 8-hour option gives enough time for the main island highlights, while 4 hours suits a few chosen stops.
Is hotel pickup included?
Yes. Our driver collects you and drops you off at any hotel, villa, pier or accommodation on Koh Samui. Airport or cruise terminal pickup can be added on request.
What is included?
A private air-conditioned car or van, a local English-speaking driver, fuel, accident insurance, bottled water, cold towels and a baby seat on request.
Is the price per person or per group?
The price depends on the number of travellers in your group and the hours you choose; the booking panel on this page shows the current price of each option.
Is it suitable for children and reduced mobility?
Yes. Families are welcome and baby seats are available on request. The vehicle service suits travellers with reduced mobility, although some temples and waterfalls have steps or uneven paths.
Does the driver work as a tour guide?
No. The driver takes you between stops and waits, and can share practical tips, but is not a licensed guide and does not give guided commentary.
Which places can we visit on a Koh Samui island tour?
Popular stops are the Big Buddha Temple, Wat Plai Laem, the Chaweng viewpoint, the Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks, Wat Khunaram, the Na Muang Waterfalls and Fisherman's Village, but you can choose any places on the island.
What should I bring?
Light clothes with something to cover shoulders and knees for temples, swimwear and a towel for the waterfall or beach, sunscreen and cash for entrance fees and meals.
What is the best time of day for the tour?
A morning start is cooler for temples and waterfalls; an afternoon start lets you end at a beach for sunset or at the Friday market in Fisherman's Village.
What happens in bad weather?
The service runs in light rain, and your driver can adapt the route towards temples, markets or cafés. Timings may change with traffic, weather and opening hours.
How do I book and confirm?
Choose your option and start time on this page and send the booking; our team confirms on WhatsApp within minutes and shares the driver details before the day.
