Full Description
Rajadamnern Stadium, the Birthplace of Professional Muay Thai
Rajadamnern Stadium opened in 1945 on Ratchadamnoen Nok Road and quickly became the most respected Muay Thai stadium in Thailand. For decades a title fight here was the highest honour in the sport, and many of the country's best-known champions built their names in this ring. A visit to Rajadamnern is the classic answer to where to watch Muay Thai in Bangkok.
The venue has been modernised while keeping its identity. Today the arena combines a large dome projection, high-definition screens, lighting synchronised to the fights and a strong sound system, so the evening feels like a show as well as a sporting event. The stadium tells the thousand-year story of Muay Thai, from a battlefield skill to the Art of Eight Limbs.
The Art of Eight Limbs, Rituals and Live Music
Muay Thai is called the Art of Eight Limbs because fighters strike with fists, elbows, knees and shins. Before each bout the boxers perform the Wai Kru Ram Muay, a slow dance that honours teachers and ancestors, wearing the sacred Mongkol headband and Prajied armbands. A live Piphat band, with oboe, drums and cymbals, plays throughout, and the tempo rises as the fight intensifies.
You do not need to know the rules to enjoy it. Watch the rhythm of kicks, the clinch work and the way the crowd reacts to a strong round. Local fans shout advice and cheer, which adds to the atmosphere. Expect a card of several bouts, and note that the schedule and the fighters can change at short notice.
Choosing Your Seat Zone
Tickets are sold by zone rather than by seat number. The Leo Section (Section 10), the default option, is the most affordable way in and gives a clear view from further back. Club Class (Sections 8 and 9) is closer to the ring. Ringside (Sections 3 to 7) puts you near the action, and the President Box (Sections 1 and 2) sits at the centre of the long side.
The VIP Lounge is set higher than the other seats with more space and comfort. If you are wondering which Muay Thai ticket to buy, choose a Ringside or higher zone if you want to hear the strikes, and the Leo Section if you want the full stadium atmosphere at the lowest price. Moving between zones inside the stadium is not permitted.
Getting There and the Ratchadamnoen Area
Rajadamnern Stadium stands on Ratchadamnoen Nok Road in the old part of Bangkok, close to the Democracy Monument and a short ride from Khao San Road, the Golden Mount and the Grand Palace area. The easiest way to arrive is by taxi or ride-hailing app from your hotel, and the same choice takes you back after the last bout.
On arrival, go to counters 2 to 6 to exchange your booking for your ticket. Late arrival is possible, but you may miss some early bouts. Outside food and drinks, glass objects, fireworks and flash photography are not allowed. Arrive early enough to walk around the avenue and the monument, which is lit up nicely at night.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to what travellers ask us most, before they book.
How much do the Muay Thai tickets cost?
The price depends on the seat zone you choose, from the Leo Section to the VIP Lounge. The booking panel on this page shows the current price for each option, adult and child where offered.
What is the difference between the seat zones?
All zones are entry tickets for the same fight night. The Leo Section is further back, Club Class is closer, Ringside is near the ring, the President Box is central on the long side, and the VIP Lounge is raised with more space and comfort.
Is hotel pickup included?
No. This is an entry ticket only. Most visitors take a taxi or ride-hailing app from their hotel to the stadium.
How long is the Muay Thai fight night?
Plan for about three hours. Exact start times are shown when you check availability, and the fight card can change.
Is Muay Thai suitable for children?
It can suit older children who are comfortable with loud noise and contact sport. Very young children may find it intense, so we suggest judging by your child's age and temperament.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, casual clothing. There is no formal dress code, but a light layer is useful if the seating area is cool.
Can I book for today or tomorrow?
Often yes, depending on availability. The booking panel shows the nights that are open for each seat zone.
Can I change the date of my ticket?
No. Date changes are not permitted, so check your plans before you book.
Can I take photos inside Rajadamnern Stadium?
You can take photos without flash for personal use, but flash photography is prohibited and other restrictions may apply inside the venue.
Is Rajadamnern Stadium worth visiting?
Yes, if you want to see Muay Thai in its historic arena. The mix of ritual, live music and skilled fighters makes it a memorable night out in Bangkok, even for people who have never watched a fight.
