Pattaya
Plan Pattaya with Haqqi Tours: day tours, private airport transfers, attraction tickets and packages, run by our own team and confirmed on WhatsApp in Arabic or English.
Step out of your hotel in Pattaya in the early morning and the Gulf of Thailand is already glittering: longtail boats rocking off Jomtien, vendors grilling skewers of moo ping on charcoal, the smell of jasmine rice and lemongrass drifting from a roadside kitchen, and the green bulk of Pratumnak Hill rising behind the bay with its golden Buddha catching the first light.

Pattaya began as a quiet fishing village and grew into Thailand's most accessible seaside resort, just a couple of hours from Bangkok. Today it plays a very different role from the islands of the south: it is the eastern seaboard's easy, family-friendly coast, where carved temples, tropical gardens, offshore islands and theme parks sit within a short drive of each other, perfect for travellers who want beach time without a domestic flight.
Why include Pattaya in your itinerary?
- Pattaya is the closest real beach resort to Bangkok, so you can trade the capital's traffic for sea breezes in about two hours, making it the easiest way to add a coastal chapter to any Thailand itinerary.
- The Sanctuary of Truth, an immense temple carved entirely from teak and still being completed by artisans, is unlike any monument in Thailand and sits right on Pattaya's northern shore at Naklua.
- Few Thai resorts pack so many family attractions into one area: water parks, botanical gardens, a floating market, island ferries and viewpoints, all easy to combine with a private driver from Pattaya.
Signature experiences in Pattaya
The Sanctuary of Truth
Rising from the shore at Naklua, the Sanctuary of Truth is a soaring wooden temple covered from base to spire in hand-carved deities, mythical creatures and scenes from Hindu and Buddhist philosophy. Craftsmen still work on site, chisels in hand, and the scent of fresh teak fills the halls. We issue the attraction ticket and can include it in our guided day tour, with a guide who decodes the symbolism of each carving.
Koh Larn by Ferry
From Bali Hai Pier, a short ferry crossing brings you to Koh Larn, the Coral Island, where Tawaen, Samae and Nual beaches offer clearer water and softer sand than the mainland. Swim, snorkel among small reefs, and lunch on grilled fish and som tam at a beachside table. We arrange the ferry tickets or a full day tour, so the crossing, island transport and return are taken care of.
Jomtien, Pratumnak and the Viewpoint
South of the central bay, Jomtien Beach stretches for kilometres with a calmer, more local rhythm, while Pratumnak Hill between the two bays hides quiet coves and leafy streets. Climb to Pattaya Viewpoint for the classic panorama of the crescent bay, then visit Wat Phra Yai's Big Buddha on the hilltop. A private car with driver arranged by our team links these spots in an easy half day.
Floating Market, Gardens and Khao Chi Chan
Just outside town, the Pattaya Floating Market lets you browse handicrafts and mango sticky rice served from wooden boats, while Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden unfolds manicured landscapes of palms, cycads and orchids. Further south, Khao Chi Chan displays a vast golden Buddha image inlaid into a cliff face. Our guided day tour combines these sites with comfortable timings and air-conditioned transport between each stop.
Water Parks and Family Attractions
Pattaya is one of Thailand's top choices for families, with large water parks, interactive 3D art museums and aquariums spread around the city. Children love the slides and wave pools, and adults appreciate the shaded cabanas. We issue attraction tickets in advance and can pair them with a private transfer, so you skip ticket queues and avoid waiting for transport in the afternoon heat.
Neighbourhoods and quarters to know in Pattaya
Central Pattaya and Beach Road
The central bay is where most first-time visitors stay, with a long beachfront promenade, shopping malls such as Central Festival and plenty of hotels in every category. It is lively and convenient, with restaurants and pharmacies on every block. Choose a hotel on Second Road or a side street for quieter nights, and keep normal city precautions after dark.
Jomtien
Jomtien Beach is longer, calmer and more relaxed than central Pattaya, popular with families and long-stay visitors. Its beachfront is lined with seafood restaurants and condominiums, and the Thepprasit night market is close by on weekends. It feels safe and residential, with good access to the water parks and the road south towards Sattahip.
Pratumnak Hill
Sitting between Pattaya and Jomtien, Pratumnak Hill is the most peaceful address in the city, with boutique hotels, small coves such as Cosy Beach and views over both bays. It is quiet, green and very safe, ideal for couples and travellers who want easy access to the centre without the noise.
Naklua and Wongamat
North of the centre, Naklua keeps a fishing-village soul with a lively seafood market, while Wongamat Beach is lined with upscale resorts and calmer water. The Sanctuary of Truth is here too. The area is refined, safe and family friendly, a smart choice for travellers who want resort comfort and space.
How long to stay in Pattaya and how to pair it
Recommended stay
Three to four nights in Pattaya is ideal: one day for the Sanctuary of Truth and the viewpoints, one for Koh Larn, one for the floating market and gardens, and a free day for the beach or a water park. Families often stay five nights.
How to pair it
Pattaya fits naturally after Bangkok. A seven-day trip can combine four nights in Bangkok with three in Pattaya. In ten days, fly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai for temples and mountains after your Pattaya beach break. A fourteen-day loop adds the Andaman coast: Phuket or Krabi for limestone islands, or Koh Samui in the Gulf. We arrange the flights, train and ferry tickets and the private transfers between them.
Best time to visit Pattaya and the rhythm of the day
Best months
The best time to visit Pattaya is from November to February, when the weather is dry, sunny and slightly cooler, with calm seas for island trips. March to May is hot and humid but still sunny. From June to October the rainy season brings short, heavy showers, greener scenery and quieter hotels, and most days still offer dry spells for sightseeing.
The daily rhythm
Pattaya mornings are for the sea: a swim before the heat, a ferry to Koh Larn or a visit to the Sanctuary of Truth while it is cool. Midday is for shaded lunches, malls and pool time. Late afternoon brings golden light over the bay and the viewpoints, and evenings move to night markets, seafood dinners along the shore and family shows.
On-the-ground logistics in Pattaya
Arrival
U-Tapao Rayong-Pattaya International Airport is around 40 to 50 minutes from central Pattaya, while Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport is about one and a half to two hours away. Our private airport transfer meets you on arrival with a name board and takes you directly to your Pattaya hotel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle.
Getting around
Central Pattaya and Jomtien beachfronts are walkable in the early morning and evening. Baht buses, the shared blue songthaews, run loops along Beach Road and Second Road. Ride-hailing apps and metered taxis are also available. For day trips to the gardens, floating market or Khao Chi Chan, a private car with driver arranged by our team is easiest.
Local etiquette tip
Thais deeply respect the monarchy and Buddhism, and visitors often forget that beachwear belongs on the beach. At the Big Buddha, the Sanctuary of Truth and every temple, cover shoulders and knees, remove shoes where indicated, and never point your feet at a Buddha image. A polite wai and a smile open many doors.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to what travellers ask most about Pattaya.
Where should first-time visitors stay in Pattaya?
Central Pattaya near Beach Road suits travellers who want shopping and convenience, while Jomtien offers a calmer, family-friendly beach. Pratumnak Hill is the quiet choice for couples, and Naklua and Wongamat have upscale resorts with calmer water. Our team can recommend hotels in the area that suits your travel style.
Can Pattaya be done as a day trip, or does it need an overnight stay?
Pattaya can be visited as a long day trip from Bangkok, covering the Sanctuary of Truth and the viewpoint. However, to enjoy Koh Larn, the gardens and the beaches without rushing, at least two or three nights are recommended. We can arrange either option with a private car or guided day tour.
What is the dress code and etiquette in Pattaya?
Pattaya is relaxed, but swimwear belongs on the beach only. At temples, the Big Buddha and the Sanctuary of Truth, cover shoulders and knees and remove shoes where asked. Speak respectfully about the monarchy, avoid touching people's heads, and greet with a gentle wai and a smile.
Is Pattaya tourist friendly?
Yes, Pattaya is one of Thailand's most tourist-friendly destinations, with English widely spoken, signage in several languages and a huge choice of hotels and restaurants. Families are well catered for with water parks and gardens. Our private transfers and guided day tours make getting around even easier.
Is it safe to travel to Pattaya now?
Pattaya is visited safely by millions of travellers each year. Use normal precautions: watch your belongings, agree prices for rentals in advance and respect beach flags. Check the official travel advice of your own government before departure, and keep our WhatsApp line handy throughout your stay for any assistance.
What are the must-do things in Pattaya?
The essentials in Pattaya are the Sanctuary of Truth, a ferry to Koh Larn, the Pattaya Viewpoint and Big Buddha, the Floating Market, Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden and Khao Chi Chan. Families should add a water park, and everyone should enjoy fresh seafood in Naklua.
How many days do you need in Pattaya?
Three to four days is ideal for Pattaya, giving time for the main sights, a day on Koh Larn and relaxation on the beach. Families with children may prefer five days to include water parks. If you are short on time, two nights still covers the highlights comfortably.
What can I book in Pattaya with Haqqi Tours?
Day tours, attraction tickets, private airport transfers, flight tickets, train tickets and ferry tickets, including Three Island Catamaran Cruise with Thai Buffet Lunch Pattaya, Living Green Elephant Sanctuary Day Trip from Pattaya and Pattaya Koh Larn and Sanctuary of Truth Day Trip from Bangkok. Each has its own page, and the WhatsApp desk combines any of them into one plan with one written price.
How do I get from the airport to my hotel in Pattaya?
Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is Bangkok's main international airport, about 30 km east of central Bangkok and roughly 125 km from central Pattaya by motorway, a drive of about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. Our private transfer meets you at arrivals with a name board, tracks your flight and takes you door to door at a fixed price for the whole vehicle; the transfer pages list every route.
Is there public transport from the airport to Pattaya?
There is no train worth using from either airport: Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao have coaches and shared minivans to Pattaya bus stations that then need a baht bus or taxi to the hotel, which can take twice as long with luggage; a private car goes straight to the hotel door in roughly 1.5 to 2 hours from Bangkok, or about 45 minutes to 1 hour from U-Tapao. With luggage, a family or a late flight, the private car is the simpler choice.
Which tours are available in Pattaya?
Among them: Three Island Catamaran Cruise with Thai Buffet Lunch Pattaya, Living Green Elephant Sanctuary Day Trip from Pattaya and Pattaya Koh Larn and Sanctuary of Truth Day Trip from Bangkok. Each page says whether the day is private or small-group, what it includes and how long it lasts.
Are the tours private or in a group?
Both exist, and each tour page says which. A private tour has a vehicle and guide for your party alone; the desk can make most group tours private on request.
How do I book?
Fill in the form on any page or message us on WhatsApp with the date, the number of travellers and the hotel. A member of our team confirms the price and the details in writing within minutes.
Are the prices fixed?
Yes - every price is agreed in writing on WhatsApp before you travel and does not change on the day.
Do the drivers and guides speak Arabic or English?
It depends on the city and the day, so we do not promise a particular language; tell us your preference and we do our best. The WhatsApp desk always works in Arabic and English.
Can I change or cancel a booking in Pattaya?
Yes, in the same WhatsApp conversation. The terms depend on the product and on how close to the date the change comes; the desk states them before you pay.
