Overview

This is a three-hour pass to a premium departures lounge at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport on the Asian side of the city, bookable for the international terminal (the default) or the domestic terminal. Once you have checked in and passed security, you leave the crowded public gate area for comfortable seating, freshly prepared seasonal food, soft drinks, tea and coffee, high-speed Wi-Fi and charging points, international TV channels, newspapers and magazines, flight information screens and a children's playroom. It is an individual entry, not a tour, and it suits anyone with an early morning or late evening flight, families with children, business travellers who need to work, and passengers with a long wait before boarding. A valid boarding pass is required.

Full Description

The premium lounge: what three hours buy you

The lounge sits airside on the departures level, behind passport control and security, so it is the last calm place before your gate. Inside you find comfortable armchairs and sofas, quiet corners with tables for laptops, high-speed Wi-Fi and charging points at most seats, international TV channels, a rack of newspapers and magazines and flight information screens so you never miss a boarding call.

The buffet is restocked through the day with freshly prepared seasonal dishes, salads, pastries and fruit, and there are soft drinks, water, juices, tea and coffee without limit; the food is halal as everywhere in Turkey. Families appreciate the children's playroom, which gives small travellers a corner of their own while parents rest. Your three hours start when you check in at the lounge reception with your boarding pass and our voucher.

International terminal or domestic terminal

Sabiha Gökçen has one terminal building with separate international and domestic departures areas, each with its own premium lounge, and you book the one that matches your flight. The international lounge is on the departures level after passport control and security, for flights abroad; the domestic lounge is on the domestic departures level near boarding gate 205, for flights within Turkey such as Antalya, İzmir, Trabzon or Cappadocia.

Both lounges offer the same food, drinks, Wi-Fi and seating; the difference is simply which side of the terminal your flight leaves from, so check your boarding pass before choosing. If you are unsure, tell our team your flight number and we will tell you which option to book. Note that the lounge is inside the restricted area: you cannot enter it to wait before check-in, and you cannot use it on arrival.

The practical visit: check-in first, then the lounge

To use the lounge you must already be checked in for your onward flight and hold a valid boarding pass; check-in itself is handled by your airline, not by the lounge. Our Istanbul team's advice is to arrive at Sabiha Gökçen about three hours before an international flight, check in, pass security and passport control, then head straight to the lounge so that you enjoy the full three hours before walking to your gate.

Infants under two enter free; children up to eighteen must be with a paying adult, and unaccompanied minors, pets and smoking are not allowed. Private resting suites and VIP rooms are separate services not included in this pass. Lounge opening hours are subject to change, so if your flight is at an unusual hour, ask us to check before you book.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport and how to get there

Sabiha Gökçen is Istanbul's second airport, in the Pendik district on the Asian side about 40 kilometres from Sultanahmet, used by many low-cost and regional airlines. How to get to Sabiha Gökçen Airport: the M4 metro runs from Kadıköy directly to the airport station in about an hour; airport shuttle buses leave from Taksim, Kadıköy and other districts; and a taxi from Sultanahmet or Taksim takes 50 to 90 minutes depending on the bridge traffic, more at rush hour.

Allow generous time, because the road across the Bosphorus is unpredictable in the afternoon and evening. Once at the airport, the terminal is compact: check-in halls on the ground floor, security and passport control above, and the lounges on the departures level, so from the security exit to the lounge door is only a few minutes' walk.
