Full Description

Southeast Türkiye is one of the oldest inhabited regions on earth, and this five-day tour links its greatest sites in one smooth loop. Gaziantep, the starting point, is famous for the Zeugma Mosaic Museum, where floors from a Roman city on the Euphrates are displayed in full, and for its copper, spice and pistachio bazaars. From there the route follows the Euphrates to Halfeti, a village partly drowned by a dam reservoir, where an optional boat ride passes the Rumkale fortress and the minaret rising from the water. Şanlıurfa, known as the city of prophets, is a place of pilgrimage for its sacred fish pools and the cave linked to the birth of Prophet Ibrahim. Nearby Harran keeps its beehive mud-brick houses and the ruins of one of the earliest universities, and Göbeklitepe reveals carved stone pillars set up some 12,000 years ago, thousands of years before writing. Mardin, built in golden stone on a ridge above the Mesopotamian plain, is one of the most photographed old towns in Türkiye. The fourth day crosses the Tur Abdin plateau to the ancient city of Dara, the Mor Gabriel Monastery and Midyat with its silver filigree workshops, then stops above Hasankeyf before reaching Diyarbakır. The last day is spent inside Diyarbakır's black basalt walls, among caravanserais, mosques, a restored church and the Ten-Eyed Bridge on the Tigris. Hotels are 5-star or similar, breakfasts and dinners are included, and lunches are free so you can taste the region's famous kebabs and sweets.
