Full Description
Boarding on the Golden Horn at Cibali
The cruise boat waits at a pier on the Golden Horn at Cibali, opposite a university campus and one minute from the Cibali stop of the T5 tram, on the old-city side of the water. If you have booked a transfer option, our vehicle collects you from your hotel in Taksim, Sultanahmet, Sirkeci or Kabataş in the early evening and brings you to the pier; otherwise the easiest route is the T1 tram to Eminönü and the T5 along the shore. Boarding starts around 20:00 for the 20:30 departure.
The first minutes are already a highlight: the boat slides down the Golden Horn past the floodlit Süleymaniye Mosque on the ridge, under the Atatürk and Galata bridges with the fishermen's lamps above, and out into the Bosphorus with the Galata Tower on one side and the silhouette of Topkapı Palace and Hagia Sophia on the other. Take your first photos from the open upper deck before dinner is served.
Dolmabahçe Palace and Ortaköy Mosque from the water
Heading north along the European shore, the boat passes the longest palace facade in Istanbul: Dolmabahçe, six hundred metres of white marble built for Sultan Abdülmecid in the 1850s, with its clock tower and the mosque at its gate lit in gold. Beyond the ferry pier at Beşiktaş comes Çırağan Palace, then the waterfront village of Ortaköy, where the small baroque Ortaköy Mosque stands on a promontory right at the water's edge with the Bosphorus Bridge rising directly behind it.
This is the view that appears in every Istanbul night-cruise picture, and the window-side option exists for exactly this moment: the mosque's two slender minarets reflected in the water, the bridge changing colour overhead. The audio guide app, which you download before boarding, tells the story of each building as it passes; the boat slows here so everyone can photograph it.
The Bosphorus Bridge and Rumeli Fortress
The boat then passes beneath the Bosphorus Bridge, officially the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, the first suspension bridge to join Europe and Asia, with the span lit in shifting colours at night. On the Asian shore opposite stands Beylerbeyi Palace, a summer palace of the sultans, and ahead the Bosphorus narrows between the waterfront mansions of Arnavutköy and Bebek on the European side and Kandilli on the Asian side.
The turning point of the cruise is Rumeli Fortress, the castle Sultan Mehmed II built in 1452 at the narrowest point of the strait, in only four months, to control shipping before the conquest of Constantinople. Its three great towers and the walls running down the hillside are floodlit at night, with the second bridge, the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, glowing just beyond. Here the boat turns and the dinner service and show continue on the way back along the Asian shore.
The Maiden's Tower and the return to the Golden Horn
On the return the boat keeps closer to the Asian side, past Kuzguncuk and the Üsküdar waterfront with its Ottoman mosques, until the small white Maiden's Tower appears on its islet two hundred metres off the shore. The tower has been a lighthouse, a customs post and a quarantine station over the centuries, and its lamp-lit silhouette against the lights of the old city is the last great picture of the night.
From there the boat crosses back towards the mouth of the Golden Horn, with the Galata Tower and the minarets of the old city ahead, and docks at Cibali at around 23:30. The vehicle is waiting for guests on the transfer options and returns them to their hotels; others walk to the Cibali tram stop or take a taxi from the waterfront road. Because the departure pier can change in bad weather or by order of the port authorities, we always confirm the pier on WhatsApp on the day.
Dinner and the show on board
Dinner is served at your own table in the climate-controlled dining salon, with large windows along both sides and an open deck above. It begins with six cold Turkish mezes (think haydari, aubergine salad, stuffed vine leaves, hummus, beetroot and pepper dips), followed by a hot starter and a main course chosen on board: grilled sea bass fillet, a mixed grill of lamb and chicken, or a vegetarian plate, with seasonal fruit to finish. Soft drinks, water, tea and Turkish coffee are unlimited, and the kitchen is halal, as is the norm in Istanbul; vegetarian and pescetarian guests are catered for.
Between the courses the show takes over the floor: regional folk dances from Anatolia and the Black Sea, an oriental dance act, a Latin rhythm segment and a DJ who keeps the music going on the way back, with guests invited to join the dancing. Solo travellers share a table with other solo guests; couples, families and groups have a private table.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to what travellers ask us most, before they book.
Is this a shared or a private experience?
It is a shared dinner cruise on a large excursion boat, but every booking of two or more has its own private table; the window-side options guarantee a table by the window. Solo guests share a table with other solo travellers.
How long does the Bosphorus dinner cruise take?
Three hours on the water, from 20:30 to about 23:30, plus the transfer time to and from your hotel on the pickup options.
Is hotel pickup included?
Yes on the two transfer options, from hotels in Taksim, Sultanahmet, Sirkeci and Kabataş, with drop-off after the cruise. The two pier options have no transfer and meet at the pier at Cibali.
What is included in the dinner?
Six cold Turkish mezes, a hot starter, a main course of grilled sea bass fillet, mixed grill or a vegetarian plate, seasonal fruit, unlimited soft drinks and water, tea and Turkish coffee. Everything is halal.
Is the price per person or per group?
Per person, with a child rate for ages 3 to 7. The booking panel on this page shows the current price of each of the four options.
What is the show like?
A live programme of Turkish folk dances from different regions, an oriental dance performance, a Latin rhythm segment and a DJ set at the end, with guests welcome to join in. It is family-friendly and designed for international guests.
Which landmarks do we see?
The Süleymaniye and the Galata Bridge, the Galata Tower, Dolmabahçe and Çırağan palaces, Ortaköy Mosque, the Bosphorus Bridge, Beylerbeyi Palace, Rumeli Fortress, the Üsküdar shore and the Maiden's Tower, all lit at night.
Is it suitable for children and for reduced mobility?
Children enjoy the show and the lights, and there is a child rate from 3 to 7. The boat has a gangway and steps between the salon and the deck, so it is not suitable for wheelchair users.
What is the best season for a night cruise?
Summer evenings are warm enough to stay on the open deck; in winter the heated salon with panoramic windows makes the cruise comfortable and the city lights are even clearer. It runs all year.
What happens in bad weather?
The boat sails in rain, with the show and dinner indoors. If the authorities close the Bosphorus to excursion boats, or the departure pier changes, we inform you on WhatsApp in advance and move or refund your booking.
Is window seating guaranteed?
Only on the two window-side table options. On the standard-table options the table is private but may be away from the window; you can always go up to the open deck for photos.
How do I book and confirm?
Choose your option and date, send the booking, and our Istanbul team confirms on WhatsApp within minutes with the pier pin or your pickup time.
