Mount Tahtalı summit

Mount Tahtalı is the highest peak on the Lycian coast near Antalya, rising to 2,365 metres above the sea in the Olympos Beydağları National Park. Its rocky summit has viewing terraces where you can see the coastline from Kemer towards Antalya, the green bays below and the long chain of the Taurus Mountains. Snow often covers the top from winter into late spring, so you can stand in the snow while looking down at the beaches.

Is the Olympos cable car worth it? For many visitors it is the most memorable view of their holiday, especially on a clear morning. The summit is much cooler than the coast, often by more than ten degrees, so bring a warm layer even in summer. A café and restaurant at the top serve food and drinks at your own expense.

The cable car ride

The Olympos cable car starts from a valley station at about 726 metres, surrounded by pine forest near Tekirova, and climbs more than 4 kilometres to the summit. The large cabins glide over forest, cliffs and rock in about ten minutes, giving changing views of the mountains and the sea as you rise.

It is a smooth and comfortable ride, suitable for most ages, and the cabins have large windows for photos. On windy days operations can pause for safety, and on very busy days there may be a short wait at the station. Your ticket is valid for one day, and our team confirms the details with your pickup time.

How to get to the Olympos cable car from Antalya

The valley station lies south of Kemer, about an hour and a quarter by road from Antalya city centre, along the coast and then up a winding forest road. There is no direct public transport to the station, which is why a transfer makes the trip easy and saves you the mountain driving.

With this option we pick you up from your hotel in the Antalya region, anywhere from Boğazkent to Konyaaltı, from around 8:30 AM, and bring you back after your visit. The transfer is shared with other guests. If you are staying in Kemer, Beldibi or Tekirova, choose the Kemer transfer option, or book the ticket only if you are driving yourself.

The best time to visit is on a clear day, ideally in the morning before clouds or haze build up over the mountain. Spring offers snow on the summit with green forests below, summer gives a cool escape from the heat, and autumn often has the clearest air and the sharpest views.

The Olympos cable car opening hours vary by season, and the morning departures of this trip make the most of the light. Check the weather on the day if you can, and bring sunglasses, sun cream and a jacket, as the sun is strong at altitude even when the air is cold. Allow time to walk around the terraces and take photos from every side.
