Overview
This is a 3-hour evening cruise on the Bosphorus that combines a sit-down dinner at your own private table with a full programme of Turkish dances and a live DJ. The boat leaves Kabataş pier at 20:30, passes the floodlit Dolmabahçe and Çırağan palaces, Ortaköy and the Bosphorus Bridge, crosses towards Beylerbeyi, Üsküdar and the Maiden's Tower and returns around 23:30. The show opens with a whirling dervish and runs through Zeybek, Halay, belly dance, Romani, Caucasian and Black Sea Horon dances before dinner; the DJ takes over afterwards. The default option is a shared cruise with meeting at the pier; a second option adds hotel pickup and drop-off on the European side. The host on board speaks Arabic and English, and the food is halal as everywhere in Istanbul.

Full Description
Kabataş pier, where the evening begins
The cruise departs from Kabataş on the European shore, the busiest ferry pier below Taksim and five minutes on foot from the gates of Dolmabahçe Palace. Our Istanbul team always recommends arriving by tram: the T1 line from Sultanahmet, Eminönü and Karaköy ends at Kabataş, and the pier is a one-minute walk from the stop; the F1 funicular drops down from Taksim Square in two minutes. The boats for this cruise are moored behind the petrol station on the shore road, and yours is the orange one.
Boarding runs from 19:45 to 20:25 so that everyone is seated with a drink before the 20:30 departure. If you book the transfer option, an air-conditioned vehicle collects you from your hotel on the European side and brings you back to Beyoğlu, Fatih, Beşiktaş or the pier itself after the cruise. Either way, keep your passport or ID card with you, as it is checked at boarding.
Dolmabahçe Palace and Çırağan Palace from the water
The first landmarks to slide past the windows are the two great waterside palaces of the late Ottoman sultans. Dolmabahçe Palace, finished in 1856, replaced Topkapi as the imperial residence and stretches for about 600 metres along the shore; at night its long marble facade, ceremonial gate and clock tower are floodlit, and the view from the water is the one the palace was designed for. A few hundred metres further on, the arcaded facade of Çırağan Palace, built in the 1860s and rebuilt after a fire, glows above its own quay.
Many visitors ask whether a Bosphorus cruise at night is worth it compared with the daytime boats; this stretch is the answer. The palaces are lit, the shore road traffic is invisible, and from a private table by the window you see them exactly as the sultans' guests did when they arrived by caique.
Ortaköy Mosque and the Bosphorus Bridge
Just before the first bridge the boat passes Ortaköy, a small square and fishing harbour on the European shore whose baroque mosque stands right on the water. Built in 1854 by the same architects as Dolmabahçe, the Ortaköy Mosque has two slender minarets and tall windows that are lit from inside in the evening, and the illuminated Bosphorus Bridge (officially the 15 July Martyrs Bridge) rises directly behind it. This is the most photographed frame of the whole cruise, so have your phone ready as the host announces it.
The bridge itself, opened in 1973, was the first to link Europe and Asia across the strait; its cables change colour through the night. The boat sails underneath it, and for a moment the deck is lit from above by the roadway lights before the dark water of the middle Bosphorus opens out ahead.
Rumeli Fortress and the Asian shore at Beylerbeyi
Beyond the bridge the route continues along the European shore towards Rumeli Fortress, the castle Sultan Mehmed II built in 1452 at the narrowest point of the Bosphorus in preparation for the conquest of Constantinople. Its three great towers and the walls that run down the hillside to the water are floodlit at night, and from the boat you understand why this point controlled all traffic through the strait.
The boat then crosses to the Asian shore and turns back past Beylerbeyi Palace, the white marble summer palace built in the 1860s for visiting heads of state, which sits right at the foot of the bridge. Behind it the old wooden mansions, mosques and the lit minarets of Üsküdar line the waterfront, a much quieter and more residential face of Istanbul than the European side.
The Maiden's Tower and the return to Kabataş
The last landmark before the boat turns for Kabataş is the Maiden's Tower, the small lighthouse-tower on an islet a few hundred metres off Üsküdar. There has been a structure here since Byzantine times; the present tower dates from the 18th century and was restored and reopened to visitors in 2023. Floodlit against the black water, with the domes and minarets of the Old City behind it, it is the classic closing view of any Bosphorus cruise at night.
By this point dinner is finished and the DJ has the floor. The boat docks back at Kabataş around 23:30. Guests on the transfer option are driven back to their hotels; everyone else can take a taxi from the rank by the pier, as the tram has stopped by then.
Dinner and the dance show on board
The programme is the heart of the evening and it is a real tour of Turkish dance. It opens with a whirling dervish, the Sufi ceremony of the Mevlevi order, performed in silence; then come the Zeybek of the Aegean with its slow, proud steps, the Halay line dance of central Anatolia, a Latin number, belly dancing, fast Romani dancing, the knife-sharp Kafkas dance to Caucasian music and finally the Horon of the Black Sea, danced to the kemençe fiddle.
Dinner is served at your private table after the show: starters, then a main course of fish or grilled meat, with unlimited soft drinks, water and tea. Tell us any allergies or dietary needs when you book. After dinner the DJ plays international and Turkish hits until the boat reaches the pier.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to what travellers ask us most, before they book.
Is this a shared or a private experience?
It is a shared cruise on one boat, but every party has its own private table, so you are never seated with strangers.
How long does it take?
The cruise lasts 3 hours, from 20:30 to about 23:30. With hotel pickup and drop-off the evening is about 5 hours door to door.
Is hotel pickup included?
Not in the default option, where you meet at Kabataş pier. The second option includes pickup and drop-off at hotels on the European side of Istanbul.
What is included?
The 3-hour cruise, a private table, dinner with a choice of fish or grilled meat, unlimited soft drinks, water and tea, the Turkish dance show and the live DJ. The transfer option adds the hotel pickup and drop-off.
Is the price per person or per group?
Per person, with a lower rate for children aged 4 to 6 and free travel for infants up to 3. The booking panel on this page shows the current price of each option.
Is it suitable for children and for reduced mobility?
Yes, families are welcome and children love the dances; the show runs late, so very young children may fall asleep. Boarding is by gangway from the pier; tell us if anyone in your party uses a wheelchair and we will check the boat for your date.
Is the food halal and is there a vegetarian option?
Yes, the food on board is halal, as is the norm in Istanbul. The main course is fish or grilled meat; tell us when you book if you need a vegetarian plate and we will arrange it.
What should I bring?
Your passport or ID card, a jacket for the open deck and a charged phone for photos of the lit palaces and bridge.
What is the best season for a Bosphorus dinner cruise?
The cruise runs all year on a heated, air-conditioned boat. Summer evenings are warm enough to spend time on the open deck; in winter the lit shores look just as good from the window tables.
What happens in bad weather?
The boat sails in rain, as the dinner and show are indoors. Only in a storm strong enough to close the Bosphorus to passenger boats is the cruise moved to another date or refunded; we let you know in advance.
Which landmarks do we pass?
Dolmabahçe Palace, Çırağan Palace, Ortaköy Mosque, the Bosphorus Bridge, Rumeli Fortress, Beylerbeyi Palace, Üsküdar and the Maiden's Tower, all floodlit.
How do I book and confirm?
Choose your date and option on this page and send the request; our Istanbul team confirms on WhatsApp within minutes with the boarding or pickup details.
