Overview

This is a private yacht cruise on a stylish 34-foot sports yacht, just for you and your group. You board at Dubai Harbour, right beside the Dubai Marina skyline, and your captain and crew take you along the coast at a relaxed cruising pace. The default three-hour route covers the whole classic loop: the arched resort at the tip of Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, the sheltered Palm lagoon, the sandy beach of JBR, Bluewaters Island with its giant observation wheel and the glittering Dubai Marina canal. Shorter one and two-hour cruises and longer charters of up to eight hours are also available. It suits couples, families and small groups of friends who want a private boat without the size of a big yacht.

Full Description

Dubai Harbour, where your private yacht cruise begins

Dubai Harbour is the newest marina on the Dubai coast, built on reclaimed land between Palm Jumeirah and the Dubai Marina towers, with a large yacht club, berths for hundreds of boats and a cruise terminal. Its position is ideal for a private yacht cruise: within minutes you are on open water with the skyline on one side and the Palm on the other.

Many visitors mix up Dubai Harbour and Dubai Marina, so tell your taxi driver "Dubai Harbour". Our crew meets you in front of the yacht club and walks with you about five minutes to the yacht. Arrive 15 minutes early: departures leave on time and a late arrival shortens your time at sea.

Palm Jumeirah and the arched resort

From the harbour the yacht heads towards Palm Jumeirah, the palm-shaped island created from sand dredged from the seabed. On longer routes you enter the calm lagoon inside the crescent, the protected stretch of water between the fronds and the breakwater, where the sea is usually flat and the views of the villas and towers are close.

At the tip of the crescent stands the arched resort that became one of the most photographed buildings in the region, with its pink-toned towers joined by a giant arch. Your crew slows down here so you can take pictures from the water, a view you cannot get from the road. On the two-hour cruise you choose either this landmark or Burj Al Arab.

Burj Al Arab from the sea

Burj Al Arab rises 321 metres from its own artificial island off the Umm Suqeim coast and is shaped like the sail of a traditional dhow. Seen from the sea, its white fabric facade and slender profile look even more dramatic than from the beach, especially in the late afternoon when the sun turns the tower gold.

The yacht keeps a safe distance set by maritime rules, but close enough for clear photos, and the crew is happy to help with group shots on the front deck. This stop is included in the three-hour route and longer, and in the two-hour cruise if you pick it instead of the Palm.

JBR beach, Bluewaters Island and the Dubai Marina skyline

Every route passes Jumeirah Beach Residence, known as JBR, where a long strip of white sand sits in front of a wall of residential towers. Opposite lies Bluewaters Island with its giant observation wheel, about 250 metres high, one of the tallest in the world. From the water you see both together, a view that photographs beautifully at sunset and after dark.

The cruise then turns into the Dubai Marina canal, lined with glass skyscrapers and promenades. Evening departures are especially popular here, when the towers light up and reflect on the calm water. The yacht moves at 5 to 7 knots: this is a relaxed cruise, not a speedboat ride.
