Full Description

The Quad Base in Pecatu, Uluwatu

Pecatu is the village that covers much of the Uluwatu area at the southern tip of Bali, on the limestone plateau known as the Bukit peninsula. The quad base sits on Jalan Pura Kulat, a short drive from the cliffs and beaches of Uluwatu and about thirty to forty minutes from Jimbaran or Nusa Dua, making this one of the most convenient ATV rides in South Bali for travellers staying in the south.

At the base you store your belongings in a locker, meet the ride leader and receive your helmet and safety equipment. A short orientation shows how to start, steer, brake and keep a safe distance, and you try the quad on a practice area before heading out. Arrive fifteen minutes early so the group can leave on time.

Mud Tracks, Forest and Open Fields of the Bukit

The ride itself lasts about an hour to an hour and a half. The Bukit is dry, rocky country with scrub forest, small farms and hidden valleys, and the trail mixes all of it: shaded forest paths, bumpy dirt tracks, open fields with wide skies and, of course, the mud pools that give this Uluwatu ATV tour its name. Expect to finish splashed from head to toe.

Your ride leader sets a pace that suits the group, stops for photos at scenic points and keeps an eye on less confident riders. Along the way you pass village scenery and glimpses of the coastline of the southern peninsula. The route stays on private and rural tracks, away from main roads.

The Giant Statue Tunnel

One of the most memorable moments of the ride is a long, dark tunnel that you enter through the open mouth of a huge carved stone figure in the style of Balinese temple guardians. Inside, headlights bounce off the walls and the track twists through the darkness before you burst out into daylight again.

These giant demon-like guardians are a familiar sight in Balinese art, carved at temple gates to frighten away evil spirits. Riding straight through one is a playful twist on that tradition and the photo that most riders remember best. The tunnel can be muddy and rough underfoot, so follow the ride leader's instructions on speed and keep your distance from the quad in front.

Jungle Swing, Lunch and Showers at the Base

After the ride you return to the base, rinse off in the shower rooms and change into clean clothes. Lunch is served with a fresh coconut, the perfect drink after a hot, muddy ride. This relaxed hour is a good time to swap photos with the rest of the group.

The base also has a tall jungle swing over the green valley, which you can add on the day as an optional extra. Swings here are a popular way to end the visit, with panoramic views over the trees and a different kind of thrill from the quad. Bring a change of clothes and a small towel so you can travel back to your hotel clean and comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to what travellers ask us most, before they book.

Is this a shared or a private experience?

It is a guided group ride: you have your own quad (or share a tandem quad with your partner), and ride with other guests behind a ride leader.

How long does the Uluwatu ATV tour take?

About two hours at the base, including about one to one and a half hours of riding, plus time for the shower and lunch.

Is hotel pickup included?

Not in the default option, where you meet at the base in Pecatu. The tandem option with private transfer includes pickup and drop-off from your hotel in South Bali.

What is included?

The quad ride with a ride leader, helmet and safety gear, a safety briefing, lunch and coconut water, lockers, showers and insurance.

Is the price per person or per group?

Single quads are priced per rider; tandem quads are priced per quad shared by two. The booking panel on this page shows the current price of each option.

What is the difference between a single and a tandem quad?

With a single quad you drive your own bike. With a tandem, one person drives and the other sits behind, which suits couples or less confident riders.

Is it suitable for children or people with reduced mobility?

Riders must be at least 12 to drive alone; it is not recommended for children under 10, pregnant women, wheelchair users or people over 70.

What should I bring?

Clothes and closed-toe shoes you do not mind getting muddy, a full change of clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.

Is the swing included?

The jungle swing is at the same base and can be added on the day as an optional extra; it is not part of the quad price.

What happens in bad weather?

Rain only makes the mud more fun, so the ride runs in most conditions. In severe weather it may be moved to another time and we will contact you on WhatsApp.

Which start time is best?

The 09:00 ride is the coolest. The 15:00 ride has softer afternoon light and lets you combine the day with a sunset in Uluwatu.

How do I book and confirm?

Choose your option, date and time on this page and send the booking. Our team confirms on WhatsApp within minutes.
