Full Description
Terra Mítica – Benidorm's ancient Mediterranean theme park
Terra Mítica opened in 2000 on the hills just west of Benidorm and is one of the largest theme parks on Spain's Mediterranean coast. Its idea is simple and spectacular: each area recreates one of the great ancient civilisations of the Mediterranean, with monumental architecture, landscaped lakes and rides inspired by history and mythology. Your ticket includes all the attractions and shows operating on the day.
Plan a full day of six to eight hours to see all five areas. A park map and show schedules are handed out at the entrance; check the park calendar if you are hoping for a specific ride or show, as some open only on certain dates.
Egypt and Greece
The Egypt area welcomes you with temple facades, sphinxes and obelisks, setting the scene for adventures along the Nile. It is a great place for photos and for the first rides of the day. From there the route continues into Greece, where white temples and mythological themes, from heroes to monsters, inspire attractions for all ages.
These areas combine big thrills with gentler family rides, and the shows staged here bring ancient legends to life with music, acrobatics and costume. Arrive early to enjoy the most popular rides before the queues build up. With the full-day ticket you enter at opening time, so these first areas are where you gain the most time.
Rome and Iberia
Rome is the area of grand columns, arches and arenas, evoking the power of the empire that ruled the Mediterranean. Across the park, the towering tracks of the roller coasters that make Terra Mítica famous among thrill-seekers rise above the themed buildings, with views over the hills and the sea of Benidorm.
Iberia celebrates the ancient peoples and landscapes of the Iberian Peninsula. Together with The Islands, it is where you find many of the refreshing water rides and splash areas, perfect for escaping the summer heat. Bring a change of clothes or a light poncho if you plan to ride them more than once.
The Islands, water rides and shows
The Islands area evokes the islands of the Mediterranean and the voyages of ancient heroes, with water channels, boats and splash attractions that the whole family can enjoy together. On hot days this is often the busiest part of the park, so mornings or late afternoons are the best time to visit it. A dry change of clothes makes the rest of the day far more comfortable.
Live shows are included throughout the day, from street performances to large stage productions. In October the park hosts special event nights with extended hours, including a late opening on 31 October; for safety, only park staff may wear costumes, masks or face paint during these evenings.
Opening hours, afternoon ticket and how to get there
Terra Mítica is a seasonal park, open from mid-May to early November. Typical hours run from 10:30 am to 7 pm in late spring and September, until 9 pm in high summer, and from 11 am to 8:30 pm in October. The afternoon ticket, valid from 3 pm until closing, is ideal after a morning on the beach or on long summer evenings.
How to get to Terra Mítica: the park is on the western edge of Benidorm beside the AP-7 motorway (exit 65A) and the N-332 road, next to Terra Natura and Aqua Natura. The coastal tram from Alicante and Benidorm stops at Terra Mítica station nearby. Parking is not included in the ticket.
