Full Description

The Mirror Chapel in the Clementinum

The Mirror Chapel is a small Baroque chapel from the early 18th century inside the Clementinum, the former Jesuit college that is one of the largest historic building complexes in Prague. Its walls are covered with mirrors, and gilded stucco and painted ceiling scenes glitter in the light, giving the room its name and its atmosphere.

Concerts in the Mirror Chapel Prague are popular because the small size makes them intimate: you sit only a few metres from the musicians, and the acoustics suit chamber and string music very well. It is often searched as one of the best places to hear classical music in Prague.

The concert programme

The evening concert offers well-known works by composers such as Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin, played by a chamber group. The exact programme can vary by date, so check the details confirmed with your booking. The English programme booklet is included with the ticket.

The concert is a good introduction to classical music in Prague, with familiar melodies, including popular Baroque and Classical favourites. The performance starts at around 20:00, and the details of the running time are confirmed with your booking. Programmes are chosen for their familiar melodies, so you do not need any classical music background to enjoy the evening, and the music suits the Baroque decoration around you.

Seating categories: A, B or C

The tickets come in three categories that depend on the rows. Category A covers rows 1 to 7 and is closest to the stage, Category B is rows 8 to 12 and is the default option, and Category C is rows 13 to 17 at the back and the most affordable.

In a chapel this small, even the back rows have a clear view and good sound, so Category C works well on a budget, while Category A gives the closest experience. The booking panel shows the current price for each category, for adults and for children.

Getting there and the Old Town

The Clementinum is in Prague's Old Town, close to the Old Town end of Charles Bridge and a short walk from Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock. Many visitors ask how to get to the Mirror Chapel: walking from most central hotels is easy, and the tram stops nearby.

Arrive early enough to find the concert entrance, which we confirm with your ticket, and take a stroll across Charles Bridge before or after the concert. Food and drinks and transport to the venue are not included. The Old Town is compact, so you can easily fit in dinner nearby before the concert; restaurants around Karlova street and Old Town Square are a short walk away.
