Full Description
Westminster and the Houses of Parliament
The cruise begins at Westminster, the political heart of London, where the Houses of Parliament and the clock tower known as Big Ben rise directly beside the river. Seen from the water and floodlit at night, they are especially striking. Many visitors choose a London Thames dinner cruise for exactly this first view as the boat pulls away from the pier.
The boat then heads downstream, giving you a slow tour of central London from a different angle. As the evening light fades, the buildings on both banks begin to glow, which is why an evening cruise is often considered the best time to see the Thames. Please arrive 15 minutes before your departure time to board comfortably.
Canary Wharf, City Hall and the O2
Downstream the skyline changes. The modern glass towers of Canary Wharf shine across the water, the rounded City Hall stands near Tower Bridge on the south bank, and the white dome of the O2 Arena appears on the Greenwich peninsula. These are the sights that give the cruise its modern-London feel, in contrast with the historic scene at Westminster.
During this stretch dinner is served, so you can sit at your table with the views out of the windows. The three-course meal and tea and coffee are included; extra drinks are available at additional cost. Vegetarian and gluten-free meals can be arranged if you tell us in advance, and we ask for at least a day's notice.
The Thames Barrier
The turning point of the cruise is the Thames Barrier, the huge flood defence that spans the river at Woolwich. Its row of steel gates, which opened in the 1980s, protects London from tidal surges, and seeing the silver shapes close up gives a sense of the scale of the engineering. It is a little-known sight for many first-time visitors.
After the turn, the boat heads back upstream while the live singer performs a mix of classic and modern songs and the dance floor opens. You may join in or sit back and enjoy the music with the illuminated skyline. The cruise ends at the same pier where it began, about three hours after departure.
Live Music, Dinner and the Evening Atmosphere
The evening is designed as a full night out. After you board, dinner is served, and once the meal is over the live singer takes the floor with songs from past and present. Dancing is welcome but optional, and many guests prefer to sit at the table and enjoy the music with the views.
The dress code is smart casual, so there is no need for evening wear, but avoid sportswear. Some tables are placed close to other diners, so the atmosphere is sociable and lively. If you are looking for a London dinner cruise with live music for a special occasion or a relaxed evening out, it combines dinner, entertainment and sightseeing in one booking.
