Full Description
The Skyride and the summit of Grouse Mountain
The Skyride is an aerial tramway that carries visitors from the base station on Nancy Greene Way in North Vancouver up to the Grouse Mountain resort in about eight minutes. Cabins are large and glass-walled, so views begin almost at once: the North Shore forest below, then the city, Burrard Inlet and the islands beyond.
The mountain sits only around 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver, which makes a Grouse Mountain day trip one of the easiest mountain experiences in the world. Your ticket also includes the Blue Grouse Gondola as an alternative ride, and both are round-trip.
Summer: wildlife, shows and eco-walks
In summer, visitors head straight to the grizzly bear habitat, home to rescued bears living in a large forest enclosure, where free ranger talks explain their story and behaviour. The refuge also cares for other wildlife, and the talks change during the day.
The lumberjack show, birds in motion demonstration, owl talks and guided eco-walks fill the schedule, and a free summer shuttle runs from Canada Place from mid-May. Optional paid activities such as mountain ropes, a zipline, a gravity coaster and tandem paragliding are not included. Ranger talks run at set times during the day, so check the schedule on arrival.
Year-round attractions and winter on the mountain
Some experiences run all year: the kids' tree canopy adventure and the theatre in the sky suit families in any weather. There are restaurants and viewpoints at the summit, and food and drinks are paid on site.
In winter the mountain becomes a snow playground. The ticket includes access to snowshoe trails, the sliding zone and the outdoor skating pond, while skiing and snowboarding tickets and equipment rental are separate. Visitors who search for Grouse Mountain in winter usually plan for warm clothes and boots. Restaurants at the summit make a warm break between activities.
Planning your visit: hours, timing and getting there
The ticket is valid for one day, and the base station is open roughly from morning until evening, with hours changing by season. The best time to visit Grouse Mountain is a clear afternoon for sunset views over the city, or a morning in summer when animals are active.
How to get to Grouse Mountain: drive to the base station on Nancy Greene Way, take a bus from downtown via the SeaBus, or use the summer shuttle. Parking is not included and can fill in busy periods. The Grouse Grind is a steep hiking trail and is not part of the ticket.
