The zip line course above the forest

The zip line course has seven cables and nine platforms, taking you through and above the forest canopy at the foot of Arenal Volcano. The cables start gently and get longer and faster, so first-timers build confidence as they go. If you are looking for a zip line in La Fortuna, this course combines the thrill of flying over the trees with views of the green hills and, on clear days, the volcano.

An optional abseil of 50 metres gives adventurous guests an extra descent. Guides clip you in, check your harness at every platform and explain each step in English and Spanish. Wear closed shoes and long trousers, and secure loose items. Age, weight and health rules apply, so check the details in the booking panel before you reserve.

Maleku cultural experience

Between activities, the tour includes a cultural stop about the Maleku, one of the indigenous peoples of northern Costa Rica. The Maleku are known for their language, their traditional crafts and their close relationship with the forest. Listening to their stories gives the trip a human side that a simple adventure activity does not have.

The stop is short but informative, and it is a welcome pause between the zip line and the pools. Ask questions, and if you like, look at the crafts. Respect the customs of the community and follow the guide's instructions on photographs and behaviour.

Montana de Fuego thermal mineral pools

The tour finishes at the Montana de Fuego thermal pools, where mineral-rich water heated by the volcanic system flows through a series of pools set in gardens. Soaking here after the zip line relaxes the muscles, and entry is included in the default option.
