Full Description
Aquaria KLCC beneath the Convention Centre
Aquaria KLCC is a large aquarium in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, built beneath the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. It opened in 2005 and houses more than five thousand aquatic animals from Malaysian waters and further afield. If you are searching for Aquaria KLCC tickets, the international visitor ticket is the one designed for tourists visiting from outside Malaysia.
The aquarium is organised in themed zones, from tropical reefs and rainforest rivers to open ocean tanks, so it is easy to follow and works well for children. Allow about two hours for a comfortable visit, and longer if you like to watch feeding times.
The 90-metre underwater tunnel
The highlight is the 90-metre travelator tunnel that takes you through the Ocean Tank, with sharks, stingrays, sea turtles and shoals of fish swimming around and above you. It gives the feeling of walking on the seabed without getting wet, and it is a favourite spot for photographs.
Look for the large rays gliding overhead and the sea turtles feeding in the main tank. Because the tunnel moves at a slow pace, it is comfortable even for visitors with young children or limited mobility, and you can ride it more than once if the crowd allows.
Marine animals and hands-on encounters
Beyond the tunnel you find jellyfish, seahorses, moray eels, colourful reef fish and freshwater species from Southeast Asian rivers. There are also areas where visitors can learn about conservation and see animals at close range, and some activities offer hands-on encounters with sea life, guided by the aquarium's own staff.
Special programmes such as diving with sharks or sleeping at the aquarium are not included in the entry ticket, and neither are guides or audio guides, meals and photography fees. Check the booking panel for what each option covers.
Getting to Aquaria KLCC and planning your visit
The aquarium is at the Concourse level of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, next to the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Park. Many visitors ask how to get to Aquaria KLCC: take the LRT to KLCC station and follow the air-conditioned walkway, or use a taxi or ride-hailing car to the Convention Centre entrance.
Choose the weekday ticket for Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, or the weekend and public holiday ticket for other days. You may need to show your passport or ID for verification. The ticket is valid for one day and is non-refundable, so check your date carefully.
