ADO buses run from the airport terminals to downtown Cancun and Playa del Carmen and suit a light-luggage budget trip; a private car is simpler for the Hotel Zone, Costa Mujeres, Tulum, Holbox or a family with luggage, because resorts are spread over many kilometres.
Where to stay in Cancun

A hotel in the centre puts the sights within walking distance; one further out is quieter and usually better for families with a car at the door, which is what the transfer provides.
