The airports serving Johannesburg
O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) is in Kempton Park about 25 km east of Sandton and 22 km from the Johannesburg city centre, 30 to 45 minutes by car; Rosebank is 35 to 45 minutes and Pretoria 45 minutes to an hour on the R21, and the Gautrain reaches Sandton in about 15 minutes.
Lanseria International Airport (HLA) is a smaller airport north-west of Johannesburg, about 35 km from Sandton and 40 to 50 minutes by car on the R512 and N14, with domestic flights from Cape Town and Durban; it has no rail link, so a private car is the practical way into the city.
