Full Description
The Papagayo beaches at the southern tip
The Papagayo beaches lie at the far southern tip of Lanzarote, near Playa Blanca, and they are often described as the island's most beautiful coves. A string of small bays with pale sand and clear turquoise water is sheltered by low cliffs, and the beaches such as Playa de Papagayo, Playa de la Cera and Playa Mujeres are protected. Reaching them by land means a dirt track, so a catamaran day trip to Papagayo is a comfortable way to see them.
The catamaran anchors off the coast so that you can swim from the boat in calm water. The best time to enjoy them is around midday, when the sea colours are most intense. Snorkelling equipment is not included, so bring your own if you want to look at the fish. Disembarking onto the beach is not permitted on this trip.
Los Ajaches and the southern coast
Behind the beaches rise the ochre mountains of Los Ajaches, a protected natural monument and one of the oldest volcanic areas of Lanzarote. From the sea you see the layers of the cliffs, the dry ravines and the little coves that are hard to reach on foot. The coastline between the marina and Punta Papagayo also passes the resorts of Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca, so you see the island's south from a very different angle.
Live commentary on board explains the geology and the way the coast has been shaped by wind and sea. If you are wondering whether the Papagayo beaches are worth visiting, the views of the coastline from the water are a big part of the answer. Bring a camera and a light jacket, because the wind can be cool on deck.
On board: the catamaran, kayaks and lunch
The cruise takes place on a sailing catamaran with a spacious deck where you can sunbathe, sit in the shade or watch the coast pass by. Kayaks are available for guests who want to paddle around the anchorage, and the crew keep an eye on everyone in the water. Soft drinks and water are included on board throughout the day.
Lunch is served on board and features traditional Spanish paella or pasta with tomato sauce, followed by a fresh fruit selection. Vegetarian diets can be arranged with prior notice. Smoking and glass objects are not allowed on board. The trip is not suitable for people with mobility impairments, wheelchair users or anyone prone to motion sickness.
Pickup, timing and the meeting point

With the pickup option, you receive return transfers from the nearest pickup point in Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen or Costa Teguise, and the pickup point and time are confirmed after booking.
