Full Description
Chicken Island and its snorkelling reef
Chicken Island, known locally as Koh Kai, is named for a rock formation that looks like a chicken's head and neck rising from the sea. It is one of the most photographed sights in Krabi, and the shallow waters around it hold coral and small tropical fish, which makes it a favourite stop for a Krabi four-island tour.
You snorkel here with the equipment provided and your guide beside you. Visibility depends on the weather and the tides, so treat the reef as a pleasant swim rather than a guaranteed underwater show, and do not touch the coral or marine life.
Koh Tup and the sand spit to Koh Mor
Koh Tup, also called Thale Waek, is a small island with a beautiful natural sand spit that links it to neighbouring Koh Mor. At low tide the spit rises out of the sea and you can walk between the islands with water on both sides, an experience that is hard to find elsewhere.
Tides change the scene from day to day, so the sand spit may be long and dry or partly covered when we arrive. It is one of the best places on the trip for photos, so keep your camera in a waterproof bag.
Koh Poda and lunch on the beach
Koh Poda is a tropical island in the Andaman Sea with soft white sand and clear water, and it is where the trip pauses for a traditional Thai lunch on the beach. After eating, you have free time to swim, sunbathe or walk along the shore.
Many visitors who search for a Koh Poda day trip from Krabi want this exact experience: a quiet beach, shade under the trees and a simple meal with the sea in view. Seasonal fruit and drinking water are provided throughout the day. The beach is also a good place to cool off before the final stop.
Phra Nang Cave Beach in Railay
The final stop is Phra Nang Cave Beach in the Railay area, one of the most dramatic beaches in Thailand. Limestone cliffs rise straight from the sand, and the famous Phra Nang cave holds a shrine that locals visit to make offerings.
Explore the cave, swim in the clear water or simply relax on the beach before we return to the pier. Wear a hat and sunscreen, because there is little shade on the open sand. It is one of the most photographed places in Krabi, so bring a camera and allow time to walk along the sand as well as swim.
