Kruja Castle and the Skanderbeg story

Kruja Castle stands on a cliff above the town and was the seat of Gjergj Kastrioti, known as Skanderbeg, who led the Albanian resistance against the Ottomans in the fifteenth century. The castle withstood several sieges, and today it is a symbol of Albanian identity and national pride, with a clock tower, restored walls and views over the plain towards the sea.
