Full Description
The catamaran cruise from Corralejo
The trip begins with a short transfer from your Corralejo hotel to the harbour, where you board a catamaran with a wide sun deck and a net for lying above the water. From the sea you see the Corralejo coast, the dunes of the natural park and, on clear days, the outline of Lanzarote across the channel.
A catamaran day trip to Lobos is one of the most popular boat excursions in the north of Fuerteventura, because the crossing is calm and short and the boat stays close to the shore. The sailing lasts about an hour in total, so you spend most of the four hours at the island.
Lobos Island and La Concha beach
Lobos Island is a protected natural park two kilometres from Corralejo, with pale sand, black volcanic rock and no traffic. The catamaran anchors near La Concha beach, a wide bay with shallow, clear turquoise water where you can swim, sunbathe or use the water sports equipment.
As you approach the west of the island you see La Caldera, the small volcanic cone that dominates the landscape. Anyone asking whether Lobos Island is worth visiting will find the mix of calm sea, empty sand and volcanic scenery hard to match on the island.
Snorkelling, kayaking and paddleboarding
The water activities are the heart of the trip. Snorkelling is guided so you can see fish among the rocks, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are available for a session of about 40 minutes, and underwater photographs are included, so you get a keepsake without needing your own camera.
The bay is sheltered and shallow, which makes it suitable for confident beginners. Staff help with the equipment and the safety briefing, and you can also just swim or rest on the catamaran net. The crew stay close and the equipment is provided, so beginners can try each activity with confidence.
Paella lunch and the short guided walk
Lunch is a traditional Spanish paella served in the bay, and it is included in the option. If you have dietary needs, tell us before you book so we can check with the crew. After lunch, a speedboat ride can take you ashore for a mini guided tour of the island.
The guide explains the island's landscape, its wildlife and its history as a quiet fishing place. Bring your own towel and sun cream, as these are not included, and wear swimwear under your clothes.
