Full Description
Electric snowmobiles at Trübsee
Trübsee is the broad snowy plateau at about 1,800 metres, halfway up Mount Titlis, reached by gondola from Engelberg. In winter its small lake freezes and the area becomes a snow playground with gentle slopes, a snow tubing lane and a marked circuit for electric snowmobiles away from the ski runs.
Electric snowmobiles are quiet and smooth, so the ride feels exciting without engine noise or fumes spoiling the mountain air. After a short briefing from the staff you follow the circuit across the snow, then head to the tubing track and slide down in a large rubber ring as many times as the schedule allows. For many guests on this trip, this hour of snow fun is the part the children talk about most.
The Rotair revolving cable car to the Titlis summit
With the default option, the climb continues from Trübsee to Stand and then up in the Rotair, the world's first revolving cable car, opened in 1992. Its floor turns a full circle during the ride, so every passenger sees the rock walls, the crevassed glacier and the valley of Engelberg far below without pushing for a window.
The summit station sits at just over 3,000 metres on the shoulder of Mount Titlis, whose highest point reaches 3,238 metres. From the snow terraces the view sweeps across the peaks of central Switzerland towards the Bernese Alps. Is Titlis worth visiting in winter? On a clear day, absolutely: the light on the snow is dazzling. On a cloudy day the summit can be white, a normal part of mountain weather.
The Titlis glacier cave
Right from the summit station a tunnel leads into the glacier itself. The Titlis glacier cave is a path cut about ten metres beneath the surface of the ice, lit in cool blue, where you can see layers of compressed snow that fell long ago and touch walls that never thaw.
The air inside stays below freezing all year, so keep your gloves on and walk carefully on the ridged floor. The visit takes only 10 to 15 minutes but is one of the most memorable moments of a Mount Titlis tour, especially for children who have never been inside a glacier. The cave is part of the default option and is open as conditions allow.
The Cliff Walk suspension bridge
The Cliff Walk is a narrow steel suspension bridge hanging along the cliff edge at just over 3,000 metres, often described as Europe's highest suspension bridge. It is about 100 metres long and roughly one metre wide, with a drop of around 500 metres beneath your feet.
Crossing takes only a few minutes, but the open grating and the gentle sway make it a real thrill. On the far side, a stairway through a gallery in the rock leads back towards the station. In strong wind the bridge can be closed for safety. If you are not comfortable with heights, the snow terraces offer equally wide views without the swaying.
Lucerne by the lake
Lucerne lies where the River Reuss flows out of Lake Lucerne, with Mount Pilatus rising behind the old town. Its covered wooden Chapel Bridge, first built in the 14th century and partly rebuilt after a fire in 1993, is the classic photo spot, together with the octagonal Water Tower beside it and the twin-towered Jesuit Church on the riverbank.
In your free time you can walk the lake promenade, see the Lion Monument carved into a sandstone cliff, or warm up in a café in the old town. Lucerne has a few halal-friendly restaurants, which makes it a better place for a meal than the mountain, where halal choices are limited. Swiss chocolate shops along the river are a favourite last stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to what travellers ask us most, before they book.

It is a shared day trip with a small group led by an English-speaking driver-guide. The snow activities and time in Lucerne are enjoyed at your own pace within the group schedule.

No. The electric snowmobiles are easy to handle, and the staff give a short briefing before you ride the marked circuit.
