Full Description

The Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx

The day begins on the Giza plateau, where the Great Pyramid of Khufu has stood for about 4,500 years. Your guide walks you around its base, then on to the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure and the desert viewpoint where all three line up for photos. She explains how the pyramids were planned, built and robbed, and helps you navigate the plateau calmly.

Next comes the Great Sphinx, reached through the granite Valley Temple of Khafre. Many women travellers tell us that a female-guided Pyramids tour feels more relaxed, as the guide handles vendors and camel touts with ease. Entry inside the Great Pyramid needs its own ticket, and camel rides can be added on site if you wish.

The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square

Opened in 1902, the rose-coloured Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square is the oldest archaeological museum in the Middle East and still holds one of the richest collections of antiquities anywhere, well over 100,000 objects. Highlights include the Narmer Palette, which records the unification of Egypt, the diorite statue of Khafre and the lifelike painted statues of Prince Rahotep and his wife Nofret.

Upstairs, the gold and silver treasures of the Tanis kings and the burial goods of Yuya and Tjuya shine in their cases. An Egyptian Museum guided tour of about two hours helps you focus on the essential pieces in this crowded, atmospheric building. Depending on the option you choose, you can visit the new Grand Egyptian Museum near the pyramids instead.

Khan El-Khalili Bazaar

Khan El-Khalili was founded in the late 14th century as a caravanserai for merchants and grew into the most famous market of Islamic Cairo. Its narrow lanes, next to the Al-Hussein Mosque and a short walk from Al-Azhar, are packed with lantern makers, spice sellers, perfume shops, silver and brass workshops.

Your guide shows you the historic gates and passages and offers tips on bargaining politely. Stop for mint tea at one of the old cafés that have served visitors for generations. A visit to Khan El-Khalili is the perfect way to end a Cairo day tour, and it is the best place in the city to shop for souvenirs, from hand-painted boxes to cotton scarves.

Touring Cairo with a Female Egyptologist

Our female guides are licensed Egyptologists who studied ancient history and archaeology at university, and they know Cairo inside out. Beyond the history, they share everyday insights: what to wear, how to handle taxis, where women can relax and how local families live. Travellers often say this is the most comfortable way to see the city for the first time.

The day follows a clear, unhurried rhythm with lunch at a local restaurant between the pyramids and the museum. Is a female-guided tour in Cairo only for women? Not at all: couples and families book it for its friendly pace, and children enjoy a guide who explains the pharaohs with patience and stories.
