Full Description

The desert trails

The ride begins on the desert trails behind the stable, where the ground is soft golden sand and gravel and the view opens to low hills and the open sky. Horses walk calmly at first so everyone settles into the saddle, and the guide shows beginners how to hold the reins, sit and steer. After a short time you can ask to go faster if you are confident and the guide agrees.

The desert near Hurghada is quiet in the morning and glows in the late afternoon, and riders often say that the silence is the best part. The light is soft for photographs at sunset, and the guide will take pictures of you on the horse. If you ask what is the best time for horse riding in Hurghada, early morning or late afternoon are ideal, when the sun is gentler.

Riding along the Red Sea shore

From the trails the route turns toward the coast and follows the shoreline, where the horses walk beside the water with a fresh breeze and a long view of the sea. The sand near the shore is firm, which makes the ride comfortable, and the horses are used to it. The shore stretch is the favourite part for many riders because of the sound and the light on the water.

The ride then continues along the beach before returning to the stable. If you choose a two-hour ride, you get a good taste of both landscapes; the three-hour ride gives a longer stay on the shore and more time in the water. Please keep a steady distance from the rider in front, and follow the guide's instructions on pace.

Swimming with your horse

In the swimming options, you ride into the shallow Red Sea with your horse and enjoy a swim. The horses are trained for this and walk into the water until it reaches their legs and belly; some riders get off and walk alongside, while others stay on. It is a memorable moment, and photographs of the horse in the water are among the most popular.

Bring swimwear and a towel in your bag, and wear a swimsuit under your riding clothes. The water is safe and shallow, and the guide stays close. Swimming is optional, and there is a two-hour option without swimming for riders who prefer to stay on land. Please do not bring valuables, because lockers may not be available.

The horses, the guide and safety

The horses are well-trained and chosen to match the experience of each rider, so beginners get calm horses and confident riders get a more spirited one. An English-speaking guide leads and assists, and helmets and safety vests are provided for everyone. Please wear long trousers, closed shoes or trainers, and a hat or sunglasses; skirts and dresses are not suitable. Tell the guide about any riding experience, injuries or fears before you mount, so that the right horse is chosen for you.

The ride is not suitable for children under five, pregnant women, guests with back problems, people with mobility impairments, wheelchair users or riders over 110 kilograms. Riders must be sober and fit to ride, and drugs are not allowed. In extreme weather the ride can be rescheduled for safety. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Choosing your option and the horse cart

The three-hour ride with swimming is the default, and the two-hour options are shorter, either with or without swimming. A ride without transfers is for guests who make their own way to the stable. Rides start from the morning to mid-afternoon, so you can plan around your day.

For family members who prefer not to ride, there is a horse cart ride of about two hours along the same desert and beach trails, with hotel transfers. It gives non-riders a chance to join the outing. Hotel pickup is included from Hurghada hotels, and guests in other resorts can ask us to arrange a transfer for an extra charge. Ask us on WhatsApp which time and which option suit your ability, and we will advise you honestly.
