Full Description
The Costa Brava coastline
The Costa Brava, meaning the wild coast, runs north of Barcelona through Girona province and is famous for its rocky headlands, pine-covered cliffs, small coves and clear water. A day trip from Barcelona takes about 75 minutes each way in an air-conditioned vehicle, which puts you in some of the best coastal scenery in Catalonia.
Our tour starts on the water in a stretch of this coast that is best seen from a kayak, where you can slip into small inlets and beneath overhanging rocks that boats cannot reach. The Mediterranean here is usually calm in the morning and is very clear, which makes it ideal for kayaking and snorkelling.
Sea kayaking and snorkelling
After a safety briefing from certified, English-speaking sea kayaking instructors, you paddle along the coastline in double kayaks whenever possible. Expect between two and three hours of combined kayaking and snorkelling, with plenty of time in the water at an easy pace.
Snorkelling over rocky reefs lets you see typical Mediterranean marine life, and with luck you may spot different fish, octopus and starfish. Mask and snorkel are provided, and a wetsuit is available in cooler months. Your guide captures photos on a GoPro so that you can simply enjoy the day.
Cliff jumps and beach lunch
For those who want a little adrenaline, we choose a couple of carefully selected, not-too-high cliff jumps. They are optional, and the guides explain each one before you decide, so there is no pressure. If you prefer to swim or relax instead, you are welcome to do so.
After the activities you eat a sandwich lunch on the beach, with chicken, chorizo or cheese, and drinks are not included, so bring plenty of water. Full civil liability and accident insurance and a safety boat are part of the trip, and there is storage for your valuables during the activity.
