Full Description
PortAventura Park, the theme park of the Costa Daurada
PortAventura Park opened in 1995 and is built around themed lands such as Mediterrània, Polynesia, China, Mexico and Far West, each with its own architecture, shows and rides. The park is known for coasters including Dragon Khan, Shambhala, Furius Baco and the Hurakan Condor drop tower, while a children's land gives younger visitors gentler rides and characters.
Many visitors ask how many days they need for PortAventura. One full day covers the main rides, and a second day lets you repeat favourites and enjoy the shows and parades without rushing. Opening hours change by season, so arrive early, plan your coasters first and keep the afternoon for shows and shaded areas.
Ferrari Land, speed and racing themes
Ferrari Land opened in 2017 and is the Ferrari-themed area beside PortAventura. Its star ride is Red Force, a launch coaster that reaches about 180 km/h in a few seconds and stands among the tallest in Europe. Around it you find Thrill Towers, family rides, racing-style experiences and displays of Ferrari cars and motorsport history.
Height and age restrictions apply on the faster rides, so check the limits at the entrance if you are travelling with children. With the three-day option Ferrari Land is visited on the same day as PortAventura Park, while the two-day option pairs it with Caribe Aquatic Park, so it is worth reading the day plan of the option you choose.
Caribe Aquatic Park, the water park
Caribe Aquatic Park is a Caribbean-themed water park with slides of different intensity, a wave pool, a lazy river and play areas for small children. It is the part of the ticket to save for a hot day, and most visitors choose it after a day of coasters. The water park is generally open in the warmer months, so check the opening calendar for your dates.
Bring swimwear, towels and sun protection, and leave valuables in the lockers rather than on the sun beds. Because the park is outdoors, mornings are cooler and calmer, while the busiest slides can have queues in the afternoon; start with the biggest slides when it opens.
Planning your days and getting there
The three-day option allows three entry days within a five-day window: PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land on the same day, one more day at PortAventura Park and one day at Caribe Aquatic Park. The two-day option allows two entry days within four days, with Caribe Aquatic Park and Ferrari Land together and a separate day at PortAventura Park. The first visit has to match the date you select.
The resort is a short ride from Salou by bus or taxi, and many people also reach it by regional train from Barcelona in around an hour and a half. The ticket includes skip-the-ticket-queue entry only; fast access to rides, parking, transfers, food and drinks are not included. Opening hours and the park calendar change by season, so check them before you plan.
