Full Description

Sagrada Família and the Eixample

The Sagrada Família is Barcelona's most famous building and the reason many visitors come to the city. Construction began in 1882 and is still continuing, and the tall towers, carved facades and forest-like interior make it unlike any other church. On this tour you see it from the outside, with your guide explaining the symbolism of the facades and the history of the long project.

The Eixample, the grid of wide avenues around it, was laid out in the nineteenth century and is where many of Barcelona's grandest buildings stand. Riding through its tree-lined streets by tuk-tuk gives you a better view of the rooftops and details than from a bus. Tickets for the interior are not included, so book them separately if you want to go in, and tell us your date so we can plan the timing.

Casa Batlló, La Pedrera and Passeig de Gràcia

Casa Batlló, with its skull-like balconies and shimmering mosaic facade, and La Pedrera, also called Casa Milà, with its wavy stone front and sculptural chimneys, stand along or near Passeig de Gràcia, the city's most elegant boulevard. They are the best examples of the Modernista style that shaped Barcelona around 1900.

A Barcelona private tour by tuk-tuk puts you at the right height and pace for these facades: you can look up at the balconies, stop for pictures and listen to the story of each building without blocking the pavement. Entry to both houses is not included, but the exteriors are the part most guests photograph, and the guide points out details you would miss when passing by.

Plaça de Catalunya, La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter

Plaça de Catalunya is the central square of Barcelona, where the old town and the Eixample meet. From here, La Rambla runs towards the sea, a tree-lined boulevard of street performers, flower stalls and old theatres that has been the city's main promenade for generations.

Just beside it, the Gothic Quarter is the oldest part of the city, with Roman foundations, medieval lanes and the cathedral. A tuk-tuk can reach streets and corners that buses cannot, and your guide tells the stories of the squares as you pass. Is the Gothic Quarter worth visiting? Yes, and this private ride is a relaxed way to get your bearings before exploring more on your own.

Arc de Triomf, Ciutadella Park and Port Vell

The Arc de Triomf is a red-brick arch in Neo-Mudéjar style, built as the main entrance to the 1888 Universal Exposition. A broad tree-lined promenade leads from it towards Ciutadella Park, the city's most beloved park, with a lake, a monumental cascade fountain and the seat of the Catalan Parliament.

From the park the route continues to Port Vell, the old harbour, where yachts, the marina and the seafront promenade give a very different atmosphere from the old streets. This part of the ride shows how Barcelona opened to the sea. It is flat and comfortable, and the tuk-tuk is open to the breeze, making it one of the pleasant sections of the tour.

Montjuïc and Plaça d'Espanya

Montjuïc is the hill above the harbour, with gardens, museums, a hilltop castle and the Olympic Ring built for the 1992 Games. The 120-minute tour and the longer routes stop here, where the view over the port, the city and the sea is among the best in Barcelona. The road climbs through green parkland, which is exactly where an electric tuk-tuk is quiet and comfortable.

At the foot of the hill, Plaça d'Espanya is a large roundabout flanked by two tall towers and, behind them, the Magic Fountain that lights up in the evening. How to get to Montjuïc is simple on this tour: your driver takes you, with commentary, in less than twenty minutes from the Eixample. Entrance fees to the castle and museums are not included.

Barceloneta, the Olympic Port and the Camp Nou area

Barceloneta is the old fishermen's district beside the sea, with narrow streets, small cafés, family-run restaurants and the city beach just beyond, where locals and visitors spend summer days. Further along the coast, the Olympic Port was built for the sailing events of the 1992 Summer Olympics and is now a lively marina with restaurants, beachfront terraces and views of the skyline.

The three- and four-hour routes add more of the city, including Sant Pau, the Art Nouveau hospital complex, and, on the longest ride, the Camp Nou area and the quiet, elegant Pedralbes neighbourhood. These extra stops are where the four-hour option earns its name: there is time to stop, ask questions and still return on schedule.
