Full Description

Teide National Park and the Roques de García

Teide National Park is the most visited national park in Spain and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is why a Teide National Park tour tops most Tenerife wish lists. The coach climbs through pine forest into Las Cañadas, a vast volcanic caldera at around 2,000 metres, where Mount Teide rises to 3,715 metres, the highest point in Spain. Your guide explains how lava flows, pumice fields and ancient eruptions shaped this lunar-looking landscape.

The main stop is the Roques de García, a group of wind-carved rock towers whose best-known shape, Roque Cinchado, is often called the stone tree. Take time for photos and a short walk along the viewpoint paths. Mornings usually bring the clearest air, so the best time to visit Teide National Park is early in the day, but even in summer it is much cooler than the coast, so bring a jacket. The cable car ride is not part of this itinerary.

Icod de los Vinos and the Drago Milenario

Icod de los Vinos is a historic town on Tenerife's north coast and the site of the Drago Milenario, the island's most celebrated dragon tree and a national monument. Dragon trees ooze a deep red resin known as dragon's blood, which the Guanche people and later settlers valued for its healing uses. If you have been searching for a day trip to Icod de los Vinos from the southern resorts, this tour covers it without any driving on the twisting north roads.

You have free time to explore the old centre, the church square known as Plaza de la Pila with the 16th-century Church of San Marcos, and the small lanes around it, or to stop for the optional lunch. The entrance ticket to the Drago Milenario park is not included in this tour, but you can add it separately on Haqqi Tours if you want to walk inside the park and the botanical garden.

Garachico and the natural pools of El Caletón

Garachico was the most important port on the north coast until 1706, when the eruption of the Trevejo volcano sent lava into the harbour and buried much of the town. Rebuilt on the black rock, it is now one of the prettiest towns on the island, with stone houses, the small San Miguel castle, a leafy main square and a calm seafront. Is Garachico worth visiting? For history and scenery in a compact walkable centre, absolutely.

El Caletón is the group of natural rock pools formed where the lava met the Atlantic. Your guide points out where to see them and explains the eruption story, and you have time to stroll the waterfront and old streets. Depending on the day, the lunch stop may take place here. Sea conditions decide whether the pools are calm, so treat them as a scenic stop rather than a swimming stop.

Masca and the Teno Mountains

Masca is a tiny village at roughly 600 metres in the Teno Mountains, built on terraces above a deep ravine that runs down to the sea. The road to reach it is narrow and full of bends, which is why many visitors prefer a guided coach to driving themselves. Your guide tells the story of a settlement that stayed isolated for centuries, reachable for a long time only on foot.

The stop is for viewpoints, photos and the village's small streets. The hike down the Masca ravine to the sea is a separate full activity and is not part of this tour. Visibility changes fast in the mountains, so the best time to visit Masca is on a clear day, and your guide will adapt the route if weather, road closures or official alerts affect access.

The price depends on the option you choose and on the ages of the travellers. The booking panel on this page shows the current price for each option, for adults and for children.

Is hotel pickup included?

Yes. Pickup and drop-off from selected pickup points is included with both departures. Pick the departure from the south of Tenerife or from Puerto de la Cruz, whichever is closer to where you stay.

How long is the tour?

The tour lasts about nine hours in total, including the drives between the four stops. The starting time is shown when you check availability.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Yes, children can join, and there are child and infant categories in the booking panel. Bear in mind it is a long day with winding mountain roads, so it suits children who are comfortable in a coach.

What should I wear and bring?

Comfortable closed shoes, a light jacket for Teide, sun protection, a hat and water. Bring some cash or a card for the optional lunch.

Can I book for today or tomorrow?

Often yes, if places remain. Choose the earliest date in the booking panel; if it is available you can book it, and we recommend booking early in the high season.
