Full Description

Kelingking Beach and the T-Rex Cliff

Kelingking Beach is the image that made Nusa Penida famous: a long green headland that drops in sheer cliffs to a curved white beach, shaped like a dinosaur with its head lowered. The viewpoint at the top gives a sweeping view of the ocean, and it is the best-known photo spot on the island.

A very steep and slippery path leads down to the beach, and it is not part of this tour, as it is tiring and can be dangerous in wet or hot conditions. Enjoy the views from the safe platform and your guide will suggest the best angles. If you are searching for how to visit Kelingking Beach from Bali, this day tour handles the boat, the roads and the entrance fee for you.

Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong

Nearby on the west coast, Broken Beach, known locally as Pasih Uug, is a natural stone arch where the sea has carved a hole through the cliff, letting water flow into a small sandy cove. Just beside it, Angel's Billabong is a clear rock pool formed at the cliff edge, whose water turns turquoise in the sun.

The waves here can be powerful, and swimming in Angel's Billabong is dangerous when the tide is high, so stay behind the barriers and follow your guide's instructions. The stops are short, about 20 minutes each, and are the best place for photos of Nusa Penida's coastline.

Diamond Beach and Atuh Beach on the East Coast

The east coast is more sheltered. Diamond Beach is a white-sand cove framed by tall limestone cliffs, reached by a long staircase carved into the rock, and the view from the steps is one of the most photographed on the island. On the way down you pass a series of small viewpoints and, at the bottom, clear water and sand.

Atuh Beach is a quieter cove with a rock arch and stacks just offshore. Both beaches involve walking on steps, and the climb back up can be tiring in the heat, so wear comfortable shoes and take your time. Access depends on conditions and time available, so your guide decides how long to stay.

Getting to Nusa Penida: Boat and Transfers

Nusa Penida lies off the south-east coast of Bali, and the fast boat from Sanur takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes depending on the sea. On the default option you are picked up from your hotel in most areas of Bali between about 5:45 and 7:00 AM and taken to the harbour for the 7:00 AM small-group departure. Return times depend on the boat and traffic.

Other options begin at Sanur port, where you meet your guide, or on Nusa Penida itself, and these do not include the Bali transfer. The day is long, about 8 to 10 hours depending on the option, and takes place in vehicles that hold a maximum of five passengers. It is not suitable for airport arrival or departure days.

Planning Your Nusa Penida Day

Lunch is not included, so you stop at a local restaurant and pay for your own meal. Bring cash for lunch and small purchases, as well as sunscreen, a hat, water and comfortable shoes for the steps. The Molateng Treehouse is an optional extra that is available only on some Nusa Penida-based options.

The best time to visit Nusa Penida is the dry season, from about April to October, when the sea is calmer and skies are clearer. The roads on the island are winding and narrow, and the tour is not recommended for people prone to seasickness or those with back or mobility problems.
