Full Description
The Quad Bike Track near Ubud
The ride follows a purpose-built off-road track through the rural landscape around Ubud, one of the most popular quad bike experiences in Bali. You ride a 250 cc quad, an automatic machine that is easy to handle, behind your guide in a line, with the pace set to suit the group. The mix of dirt paths, mud, slopes and river crossings makes it feel like a real adventure without needing any experience.
A safety briefing and short training session comes first, so beginners quickly feel confident. The ride itself lasts about an hour, and the whole visit, including arrival, briefing, lunch and showers, is around two to three hours. If you ask how hard a quad bike is to ride, the answer is simple: if you can ride a bicycle, you can manage the controls.
Waterfalls and River Crossings
The track passes two waterfalls, where you stop to see the water tumbling over rocks into jungle pools and to take photos. Between them you ride through shallow rivers, and the splashes are part of the fun, so expect to get wet and muddy.
Bring a change of clothes and wear shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dirty, because the ride operates in the rain and is often more fun then, except in extreme weather. Boots are provided at the base and a locker and towel are available for a small deposit. Shower facilities are on site so that you can clean up before lunch.
Barong Cave
Barong Cave is the highlight for many riders: a short tunnel and cavern on the route, named after the Barong, a mythical lion-like guardian spirit in Balinese tradition. The cool, dim tunnel is a memorable break from the sun, and it is popular for photos.
The cave and its surroundings are narrow in places, so keep your speed low and follow your guide. Photo and video packages are sold on site by an independent vendor and are optional. The Barong Cave stop turns an ordinary quad ride into one of the best things to do in Ubud for people who like adventure.
Villages, Rice Fields and Mud Pools
Beyond the waterfalls, the route passes through small Balinese villages, rice fields and palm groves, and includes a mud section that most riders enjoy. You see everyday life in the countryside, with farmers at work and children waving as you go by.
Ubud sits in the middle of Bali and is easy to combine with other sights afterwards, such as the Sacred Monkey Forest or the Tegalalang rice terraces. Choose the tandem option if you want to share one quad with a friend or child aged 5 or over. Ride in the morning if you prefer cooler temperatures.
