Full Description
The jet ski base on Djerba's east coast
The experience starts with transport from your hotel to the jet ski base, set directly on the beach in the Midoun area, the heart of the island's tourist zone. The base sits on a long stretch of fine sand where the sea is shallow and calm near the shore, ideal conditions for getting started on a jet ski.
On arrival, the instructor fits your life jacket and gives a clear safety briefing: how to start and stop, how to accelerate and turn, the limits of the riding zone and the signals used on the water. A short familiarisation lets you get used to the machine at low speed before heading out. This careful introduction means even first-time riders feel confident, and it is why jet skiing is among the most popular water sports in Djerba.
Riding in the dedicated zone
Once you are ready, you ride out into a dedicated zone marked off the coast, away from swimmers, where you can open the throttle and enjoy the speed. The instructor stays nearby to supervise, give advice and make sure everyone rides safely, adapting the experience to beginners and more confident riders.
With 1.5 hours on the water, the longest ride available, you have time to practise turns, cross the small waves and simply cruise along the coast at your own pace. Calm mornings bring smooth, glassy water, while afternoons often have a light breeze and small waves that add to the excitement. Shorter rides of 15, 30 or 60 minutes are available as other options for a quick taste of jet skiing.
The turquoise coast of Djerba
From the sea, Djerba reveals its most beautiful profile: a long line of white sand beaches backed by palm trees and low whitewashed buildings, and water that changes from pale turquoise near the shore to deep blue further out. On clear days the visibility is excellent, and you can see the sandy seabed through the shallow water.
The east coast around Midoun and Aghir has some of the island's finest beaches, and seeing them from a jet ski gives a sense of freedom that is hard to match. Optional photos and videos can be arranged at the base. The best time for jet skiing in Djerba is from May to October, when the sea is warm and calm; in spring and autumn the water is cooler but still pleasant for riding.
