Overview

This evening in Sunset Town, on the southern tip of Phu Quoc, brings together the island's two big night shows over the sea. Our default option is the full night: a private air-conditioned transfer from your hotel in Duong Dong or An Thoi for your party only, dinner at a seaside restaurant, the Symphony of the Sea show with water effects, fire, lights, water-scooter and jet-board stunts, then a short stroll to the Kiss of the Sea stage for lasers, fountains, flames and a high fireworks finale. It suits couples, families and friends who want a relaxed, organised night out without taxis. Ticket-only and single-show options are also available.

Full Description

Sunset Town, Phu Quoc: the setting for the shows

Sunset Town sits on the southwest coast of Phu Quoc, just south of An Thoi, and was built as a Mediterranean-style resort quarter of pastel townhouses, arcades, a clock tower and hillside lanes facing the Gulf of Thailand. As its name suggests, it is one of the island's favourite places to watch the sun go down, and after dark the whole waterfront is lit up for the evening programme of shows, music and street performances.

The station of the Hon Thom cable car, which crosses the sea to the islands of the An Thoi archipelago, stands at the edge of the town. If you are wondering whether Sunset Town is worth visiting in the evening, the answer is yes: arrive with daylight left, walk the seafront and the Kiss Bridge, then settle in for dinner before the first show. Our private transfer is timed so you are not rushed.

Symphony of the Sea show

Symphony of the Sea is the larger of the two shows and plays out on the water in front of the Sunset Town shore. It combines music, giant water jets, fire, coloured lights and 3D effects with a live stunt programme: riders on water scooters carve patterns across the bay and performers rise above the waves on jet-powered boards, before fireworks light up the night sky.

The audience watches from the shoreline seating area, so arrive a little early for a good view. The show lasts roughly half an hour and works for all ages, which makes it the most popular choice for families. In our default option, dinner comes first, then the Symphony of the Sea, then a walk of about ten minutes to the second venue for the Kiss of the Sea show.

Kiss of the Sea show and the Kiss Bridge

The Kiss of the Sea show is staged at its own open-air theatre by the water, close to the Kiss Bridge. Lasers, dancing fountains, flames and projections on curtains of water tell a romantic story of love and the sea, and the performance ends with a high-altitude fireworks display above the stage. It lasts around 25 minutes and is the more poetic of the two shows.

Next to it, the Kiss Bridge reaches out over the sea in two curving arms that stop just short of each other, a symbol of lovers who almost meet. It is one of the most photographed spots on Phu Quoc, especially at sunset and when it is lit at night, and it is an easy short walk from the show stage.

Dinner by the sea in Sunset Town

Options with dinner include a meal at a seaside restaurant in Sunset Town, served before the shows so you can eat without watching the clock. Expect Vietnamese and international dishes with plenty of seafood, rice and noodle choices; soft drinks and water can be ordered on site. Phu Quoc is famous for its fish sauce and pepper, and grilled seafood is a speciality of the island.

Halal-certified restaurants are limited on Phu Quoc, although seafood and vegetarian dishes are easy to find. If you need no-pork or vegetarian food, tell us when you book and we will pass the request on to the restaurant; for strict halal needs, we can suggest alternatives or a ticket-only option so you can dine where you prefer.

Getting to Sunset Town and the best time to go

How to get to Sunset Town in Phu Quoc: it is about 45 minutes by road from Duong Dong, the island's main town, and around 10 to 15 minutes from An Thoi. Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) is about 15 to 20 minutes from Duong Dong. With our default option, our driver picks you up at your hotel in Duong Dong or An Thoi and brings you back after the last show, in a private air-conditioned vehicle just for your group.

The best time to visit Phu Quoc for evening shows is the dry season from November to April, when skies are clear and the sea is calm. From May to October, short tropical downpours are common and the shows can be delayed, shortened or cancelled for weather; we keep an eye on the forecast and contact you if the programme changes.
