Full Description
Island Hopping Around Boracay
Boracay island hopping is the classic way to see the island from the water. Boats leave from White Beach on the west coast and follow the shoreline past green headlands and small coves, with the turquoise shallows giving way to deep blue where the reef drops off. Depending on the season, the route may also use the calmer east side of the island: during the southwest monsoon, roughly June to October, the crew picks the most sheltered waters.
This trip is a shared tour on a traditional outrigger boat, with stable bamboo arms on each side that keep it steady in the water. Over about 4 hours you spend most of your time at the stops rather than in transit, which is what makes it feel active. Bring a dry bag for your phone; spray is part of the fun on the way out.
The Cliff-Jumping Stop
The highlight for many guests is the cliff-jumping stop, on a small rocky island off Boracay where natural ledges and platforms of different heights drop into deep, clear water. Beginners usually start from the lower ledges and work up; confident swimmers try the higher platforms for the rush. Life jackets and the hosts' guidance keep it as relaxed or as thrilling as you like.
Jumping is entirely optional: plenty of guests simply swim, take photos of their friends or relax in the shade. A cliff-jumping entrance fee and an eco fee are collected in cash at check-in, so bring some pesos. Always jump feet first, check the water below is clear, and follow the instructions at the platforms. This stop usually lasts around 45 minutes to an hour.
Snorkelling Over the Coral Reef
The second stop is a coral reef where the boat anchors over clear water for snorkelling. Around Boracay, reefs such as the coral gardens near Crocodile Island on the south-east coast are home to parrotfish, damselfish, angelfish and colourful corals, and on calm days the visibility can be excellent. The crew chooses the site on the day according to wind and current.
Even if you have never snorkelled, the hosts will help you get comfortable with the mask and life jacket in the water. Please do not touch or stand on the coral, do not feed the fish and use reef-friendly sunscreen if you can: Boracay's reefs are fragile and protected. Expect around 30 to 45 minutes in the water.
Beach Stop and Time to Relax
The final stop is a beach where you can swim, sunbathe or simply sit in the shade after the excitement of the jumps. Boracay and its neighbouring islets are famous for fine, pale sand and warm, clear water, and this is a good moment to try the games the hosts organise or just enjoy the view of the boats on the water.
Is Boracay island hopping worth it? If you only stay on White Beach, you miss most of the island's coastline, reefs and quieter corners, so a half-day on the water is one of the best things to do in Boracay. This trip is especially good if you like company: the hosts introduce people and keep the atmosphere friendly and fun throughout.
Best Time to Go and How to Get to Boracay
The best time to visit Boracay for island hopping is the dry season, roughly December to May, when the sea is calm, the water clearest and the sun reliable. From June to November, typhoon season can bring rough seas, and the coast guard sometimes suspends boat trips; if that happens, we help you move to another day. Morning departures usually have the calmest water.
How to get to Boracay: fly to Caticlan airport, take the 5-minute ride to the Caticlan jetty and a boat of about 15 minutes to Cagban port, paying the local environmental and terminal fees on arrival. Kalibo International Airport is about 1 h 30 to 2 h away by road plus the boat. We can arrange private transfers to your hotel and combine this trip with a sunset sail.
