Full Description

Jungle and forest trails in the Hoi An countryside

Most visitors see only the riverside Old Town, but a short distance inland the land around Hoi An rises into wooded hills, acacia plantations and patches of thick tropical forest. This Hoi An quad tour follows dirt tracks through that green landscape, where red soil, roots, small streams and short climbs turn every section into a little challenge. It is the side of Quang Nam province that few travellers ever reach.

Your guide rides in front, choosing the line and checking that everyone is comfortable before tackling steeper or muddier parts. Beginners get gentle trails and time to build confidence; confident riders can enjoy faster sections. Expect dust in the dry months and mud after rain, which is part of the fun. Long trousers and closed shoes make the jungle trails much more enjoyable.

Rice paddies and village paths

Between the forest sections the route opens onto flat rice fields criss-crossed by narrow raised paths. Depending on the season you ride past bright green seedlings, flooded paddies reflecting the sky or golden fields at harvest, with water buffalo grazing and farmers working under conical hats. Rice has been grown here for centuries, feeding the old trading port of Hoi An.

The guide slows down through the hamlets so that you can wave to children, see small family shrines and vegetable gardens and, when the moment is right, stop to chat with local people. These are some of the best photo stops of the day, with open views towards the mountains to the west. Please ride slowly and respectfully in the villages, as the paths are also used by neighbours on foot and with livestock.

The quad ride: safety and riding together

Before setting off you receive a helmet and a clear safety briefing on starting, braking, steering on uneven ground and keeping a safe distance. Each quad is shared by two riders who can swap the driving at agreed stops; under-18s must ride with an adult, and solo drivers must be at least 18. If you would rather have a quad to yourself, a single-rider upgrade can be requested at extra cost.

The ride is designed for people aged 14 to 65 in good physical condition, and no previous experience is needed. The guide keeps the group together and adapts the pace to the slowest rider, so nobody feels rushed. Is a quad adventure in Hoi An worth it? If you enjoy the outdoors and do not mind getting a little dirty, it is one of the most memorable half days around the town.

Barbecue meal in the countryside

After the ride you wash off the dust and sit down to a barbecue lunch, or dinner on afternoon departures, in a peaceful countryside setting. The meal is grilled fresh for the group and typically includes marinated meats and seafood skewers, grilled vegetables, rice and fresh herbs, with water and soft drinks included throughout the tour. Vegetarian meals are available on request.

Halal options are limited in Hoi An, so please tell us when booking if you need no-pork food and we will pass the request on. The meal is a relaxed moment to share stories from the trail before returning to the base in Son Phong. From there it is a short trip back to your hotel; transfers are not included, but we can arrange a private transfer for you on request.
