Full Description

Tokyo Skytree in Sumida

Tokyo Skytree opened in 2012 in Sumida ward, on the eastern side of Tokyo, and at 634 metres it is Japan's tallest structure and the tallest tower in the world. The height was chosen so that the figures 6, 3 and 4 read as Musashi, an old name for the region around Tokyo. Its design blends modern engineering with the curved lines of a Japanese sword.

If you are searching for Tokyo Skytree tickets, this page offers e-tickets that let you enter directly through the ticket gate without queuing at the ticket counter. The tower stands at the centre of a complex with the Tokyo Solamachi shopping centre, restaurants and an aquarium.

The Tembo Deck at 350 metres

The Tembo Deck is the first observation level, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a full 360 degree view over Tokyo. From here you can identify landmarks such as the Sumida River, Asakusa's Senso-ji, Tokyo Tower and the bay, and on clear days you may see Mount Fuji in the distance, especially in winter.

There is a glass-floor section where you can look straight down, a cafe on the deck and places to sit. A visit takes about an hour, and the e-ticket for the Tembo Deck is valid for this level only. It is a good choice for first-time visitors who want a wide view without going higher.

The Tembo Galleria at about 450 metres

The Tembo Galleria is a spiral sloped walkway that climbs to around 450 metres, the highest point visitors can reach. As you walk it, the view slowly rises around you, and at the top the skyline is seen from above the level of most other towers.

The combination e-ticket on this page covers both the Tembo Deck and the Tembo Galleria. It is worth it for keen photographers and anyone who wants the highest possible view, though you should allow at least an hour and a half. Wind or weather can affect operations, so check the current information on your voucher.

Best time to visit and the Morning View ticket

The best time to visit Tokyo Skytree depends on what you want to see. Clear mornings and late afternoons give the sharpest views, sunset and dusk give city lights and colour, and winter tends to give the best chance of seeing Mount Fuji. Weekdays are quieter than weekends.

The Morning View ticket is for the Tembo Deck only, at a limited morning time slot, and includes a soft drink and a snack at SKYTREE CAFE350. It is valid only for the selected date and time, and changes are not allowed after purchase. Oshiage Station and Tokyo Skytree Station are right at the tower.
