Full Description
Your Private Ba Na Hills Day Trip from Da Nang or Hoi An
A Ba Na Hills day trip from Da Nang starts with a scenic drive of about 45 minutes west through rice fields, villages and rivers towards the green wall of the Truong Son mountains; from Hoi An allow roughly 1 hour 15 minutes. Your guide shares stories about central Vietnam's history and village life along the way, and because the vehicle is only for your party, you can stop for a coffee or a photo whenever you like.
Choosing a private tour makes the biggest difference on the mountain itself. Your guide knows which cable car line and which order of sights avoid the worst queues at the hour you arrive, keeps the plan relaxed for children or grandparents, and adapts if fog rolls in. Many families pick an early start to reach the Golden Bridge first, while others prefer a late-morning start and a lighter afternoon.
Cable Car to the Golden Bridge (Cau Vang)
Ba Na's cable cars are an attraction in their own right: the longest line runs almost 5.8 km above dense jungle and waterfalls and climbs well over a kilometre, so the temperature drops noticeably as you rise. Your first stop is the Golden Bridge, opened in 2018 at around 1,400 m above sea level, a gold-coloured walkway of about 150 m carried by two colossal stone hands that seem to rise from the forest.
With your own guide you can take the photos you want without rushing: from the centre of the curve, from either end and from the lower viewpoint where the hands appear at their largest. On clear days the view reaches over the valley towards Da Nang; on misty mornings the bridge floats in cloud. Nearby, the Le Jardin d'Amour flower gardens and Linh Ung Pagoda, with its tall white Buddha, complete this part of the visit.
French Village, Lunar Castle and Fantasy Park
A second cable car takes you towards the peak, close to 1,500 m, and the French Village, a recreation of a 19th-century European town with cobbled streets, a Gothic-style church, a clock tower and pastel facades. Street performances often fill the main square, and the cool air makes it pleasant to stroll even at midday. Your guide points out the best viewpoints and the quieter lanes behind the busy square.
Lunar Castle and the neighbouring Eclipse Square add shows, interactive exhibits and dramatic architecture, while Fantasy Park is a vast indoor amusement hall with rides and games that are included in your ticket. It is the perfect plan if the weather turns. A few attractions cost extra on site, such as the wax museum and the alpine coaster, and your guide can help you buy those tickets if you wish.
Buffet Lunch on the Mountain and the Best Time to Visit
Lunch is a multi-cuisine buffet at a mountaintop restaurant, served between 11 AM and 3 PM, with Vietnamese, Asian and international dishes; your guide can also arrange a Vietnamese meal at a restaurant in Da Nang instead if you prefer. The buffet is not certified halal, but it always includes vegetarian dishes and seafood, and we are happy to advise on halal restaurants in Da Nang for other meals.
The best time to visit Ba Na Hills is from about February to August, when skies are usually clearer; from September to January the rainy season brings more fog and showers. Is Ba Na Hills worth visiting on a private tour? For families and small groups it is the most comfortable way to see it, because your guide handles tickets, queues and timing while you enjoy the views.
Dragon Bridge and Love Bridge in Da Nang
On the way back into the city we stop at Dragon Bridge, which opened in 2013 and stretches about 666 m across the Han River. Its golden steel dragon arches over six lanes of traffic, and on Saturday and Sunday evenings at 9 PM the dragon's head breathes fire and sprays water in a show that draws crowds to the riverbanks. The tour usually ends before then, but your guide will tell you where to watch.
A short drive along the river brings you to Love Bridge, a pier decorated with heart-shaped lanterns facing the Dragon Bridge, with a large carp-dragon statue nearby that spouts water into the river. It is a relaxed, romantic place for a last photo of the day before we drop you back at your hotel in Da Nang or Hoi An in the late afternoon.
