Full Description
Mount Fuji 5th Station
The 5th Station on the northern side of Mount Fuji sits at about 2,300 metres and is the highest point most visitors can reach by road. It is the starting point of the most popular climbing trail, and in summer it bustles with climbers preparing for the summit. Even if you are not climbing, standing on the mountain itself is a highlight: you look down over forests and the Fuji Five Lakes, often with clouds drifting below you.
The area has a small mountain shrine, shops and snack counters, and the guide gives about 40 minutes here. The air is thin and much cooler than at the lakes, often around ten degrees colder, so bring a warm layer. Access depends on the season and on road conditions; when the road is closed by snow or the stop is out of season, the tour visits a Mount Fuji museum instead to explain the volcano's nature, history and culture.
Chureito Pagoda and Arakurayama Sengen Park
The Chureito Pagoda is the five-storey red pagoda above Fujiyoshida that appears on countless posters of Japan, with Mount Fuji rising directly behind it. It stands in Arakurayama Sengen Park, on the hillside of a shrine founded in the early eighth century, and was built in 1963 as a memorial to the people of the town who died in war, a place of remembrance and peace.
A stairway of nearly 400 steps climbs from the shrine to the viewing terrace, with a gentler path alongside; allow time and take it slowly. Cherry blossom frames the view in early to mid April and the maples turn red in November, the best time to visit the Chureito Pagoda for colour. The tour gives about 75 minutes for the shrine, the climb and photographs.
Oishi Park on Lake Kawaguchiko
Oishi Park lies on the quiet north shore of Lake Kawaguchiko, the most visited of the Fuji Five Lakes, and offers one of the widest views of Mount Fuji across the water. Long flower beds run along the shore: lavender in early summer, colourful annuals through summer, and in autumn rows of round kochia shrubs that turn from green to deep red.
The stop lasts about 30 minutes, enough to walk the lakeside path, take your classic lake-and-mountain photograph and look into the visitor centre with local crafts and fruit snacks. On calm mornings the mountain can be reflected in the water, but clouds often gather around the summit, so Fuji views are never guaranteed even here.
Oshino Hakkai spring ponds
Oshino Hakkai is a small village of eight spring-fed ponds between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako. Snowmelt from Mount Fuji seeps through volcanic rock for many years before emerging here, so cold and clear that every pebble and fish is visible. The ponds are one of the components of the Mount Fuji World Heritage site and were once a place of purification for pilgrims.
Thatched farmhouses, an old water mill and stalls selling grilled rice dumplings, sweet potato and other local snacks make it a pleasant stop for lunch, which is at your own expense. The tour allows about 80 minutes here. Is Oshino Hakkai worth visiting? Yes, especially for the contrast between the bright water, the old houses and the mountain behind them.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to what travellers ask us most, before they book.
Is this a shared or a private tour?
It is a shared coach tour with an English-speaking guide. Both options follow the same route and differ only in the departure point: Shinjuku or Tokyo Station.
Can we change the itinerary or the pace?
No, the coach follows a fixed schedule for the whole group, and the order of stops can change with traffic and weather. If you prefer your own pace, ask our team about private Fuji options.
How many people join the coach?
It is a sightseeing coach shared with other travellers, and the group size varies by date. Every guest has a reserved seat.
Is the price per person or per group?
The price is per person, and children aged 6 and over pay the adult rate. The booking panel on this page shows the current price of each option; ask us about younger children.
Is hotel pickup included?
No. The tour starts from Shinjuku or Tokyo Station depending on the option. Our team can arrange a private transfer from your hotel to the meeting point.
What is included?
An English-speaking guide, the air-conditioned coach from Tokyo and back, entry fees for all sightseeing stops, and visits to Oishi Park, Arakurayama Sengen Park and the Chureito Pagoda, Oshino Hakkai and the 5th Station in season (or a Mount Fuji museum off-season).
How long is the tour?
About ten hours, from 8:00 until the evening return to Tokyo. Weekend and holiday traffic can add two to three hours.
Can we visit the 5th Station all year?
No. The 5th Station is visited during its operating season and when the road is open; in winter or when snow closes the road, the tour visits a Mount Fuji museum instead.
Is it suitable for children or guests with reduced mobility?
Children are welcome with an adult. The Chureito Pagoda involves a long stairway and some stops have uneven paths, so the tour is not suitable for wheelchair users.
What should I bring?
A warm jacket for the 5th Station, comfortable shoes for the stairs, snacks and water, sun protection and some cash for lunch and souvenirs.
What is the best time to visit Mount Fuji and the Chureito Pagoda?
Early to mid April for cherry blossom, November for autumn colours and winter for the clearest skies. Summer is green but often hazy, and views are never guaranteed in any season.
How do I book and confirm?
Choose your date and departure point in the booking panel and send your request. Our team confirms on WhatsApp within minutes and sends the exact meeting spot.
